I might. As much as I wanna get it, I'm going on vacation to next week and a race this weekend, and also I wanna see Lucy tomorrow and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) on Thursday night, so I don't know if I can spare the 30 bucks. However, the vacation is a 4 hour drive, so maybe I can convince my parents (I'm under eighteen) to get it for me to play on the way)there.

Picked the game up last night. After viewing the credit, Cam Clarke is voicin Leo! Also, it really does look like William Fichtner was actually going to be Shredder in the movie as he is voicing him in the game.

Danny Woodburn is the voice of Splinter in this I believe, He also did the voice for the Mobile game.

Anyways, What you think of the game so far, I watched that video that I posted and it seems like a decent looking game, Its got that whole top down dungeon crawler type of gameplay.

I'm gonna have to get it too.

He is, but it's an ok game so far; only played the first two missions. It's a basic one button action with the other 3 as special moves that you unlock as you level up. My small pet peeve about it is that I would have like if all the turtles were on the screen together instead of just switching between them but that's just me lol.

Todd Freeman is Baxter, who was rumored to be playing him in the movie. Other than that, the cast is similar to the iOS game

Several people who saw pre-screenings say he is not in the film. Eric actually fills that role more or less.

I picked it up yesterday after work. So far, Im about 6 missions in and its a diablo-lite game. Dungeon crawler with the turtles. Theres loot and levels, as well as skills. April stands in the lair giving you side missions. I have yet to unlock any though. Each turtle has their own specialty. Mike can tag an enemy, and while that enemy is tagged, he takes more damage. He also does better against ranged enemies. Donnie has an A.O.E that stuns enemies and is best against groups of enemies. Ralph is the bruiser who can break through boulders etc, he is also good against the bigger enemies. I forgot what leo's ability is, but he is good against enemies with shields.

So far the game is way better than I expected. graphics are OK but the gameplay is fun. its a very standard dungeon crawl. So if you're into that, and love the turtles, I'd say go for it. :tgrin:

Yeah, Its got your typical Action RPG elements where you do some crafting and upgrading your weapons, I havent gotten very far in the game, I just fought Master Splinter a short time ago, So I'm assuming the Rat King is in the game since, You fight a ton of Rats.

anyone seen an official review on it? I am interested to hear what ign and people give it. It'd be funny if they gave it a better rating than the movie itself similar to the x men origins wolverine game. I want to see the movie before playing it as well, but I am thinking I might pick it up, luckily prices aren't bad on 3ds games

Its not a full on Action RPG, but its got those elements, Like leveling Up, The Crafting of your weapons, a Shop where you buy stuff, Its got Side Missions, Its got Challenges, In the game you can play as each Turtle at any time, Pressing the D-Pad lets you choose the Turtle in the middle of the game, So if One of the Turtles is low on Energy, I go to the other one with the most, but if you buy enough Pizza or find any, You can get energy back from it.

Each Turtle has a particular skill that's needed to progress through the game, Donnie is needed to hack a control panel, Raph is needed to smash a bolder that's in the way.

As you level Up, Your given a certain number of Skill Points, That you can use to upgrade each of the Turtle's skills, And you assign that skill with one of the buttons.

kay snagged the game at target. 29.99 minus the RED Card 5% discount. I'll be diving into it over the next few days.

As long as it's better than the Nick game they made... I'll be happy with this purchase.

also... you can get 50 coins for registering this at club nintendo for the time being. not bad for a 29.99 game.

I been playing more of this game, As you play through, You level up and then you can upgrade your weapon through crafting.

I'm at the parts where Baxter Stockman is involved, I fought the Rat King a little while ago, He looks kind of like the old school Rat King.

as far as Voice acting is concern, Its very limited, You hear the Turtles repeat some lines, But you still have to read the Text to get the story.

Much better than the Nick game. I played that game for about 10 mins and I couldn't stomach it. The only thing I like about that game that this one doesn't have is, you get all 4 turtles on screen at once. This game, its just one at a time. You can change to whichever one you want at any time though.

Though the Turtles upgrade over time and become better, But you still have to rely on them for certain things, Like you have to use Donnie to unlock doors from a control panel, Mikey in order to go down an opening on the floor, And raph to knock some boulders out of the way.

I'm at the final mission against the Shredder, but it appears to be a long Boss Battle, He changes to other Bosses that you fight earlier in the game, So I dont really know how long the Battle actually is, I was fighting him for a while until the game suddenly froze on me.

Ninjinister
08-09-2014, 10:18 PM
Slash was a bunch of hit and run tactics with Mikey but when he reeled me in, if I didn't gtfo after the first hit, he murdered me pretty much instantly. It was ridiculous. Never got a Game Over ever in this game 'til I got to him and I got it three times against him.

Am I the only one the game's glitched out on? Like... I had a few times when doors refused to open, like the second wave of enemies in a room where you needed to beat them to open it spawned. And the first time I got something like that, I flipped a switch, opened the door then as I approached it the door closed before I could go through and I couldn't hit the switch again.

I.... I like this game. Sure I hate the movie this was based on with a passion... but this game is very entertaining. I like the whole 'maze-like exploration' aspect of it and even though it kinda relies a lot on backtracking back and forth to find the devices to unlock the locked areas, it's still fun. I also like all the extra skills and weapons, especially Leo's poison darts. Ironically the TMNT feel more like actual ninjas here than they do in the movies. And since they're a lot of dialogue there's a lot more banter between brothers here. And no Mike perving over April.

I almost feel like this is the 3DS version of Out of the Shadows or just its own thing. The plot barely follows the movie at all (especially with Mousers, mutant rat monsters and the Rat King) it's basically an all-new game with the movie designs.

I have to say.... I 'm digging it. I rented it from Game Fly... def gonna buy it now. Hate the movie, love the game.

Finally bought this game over ebay.

Here in the UK its going to be a rare one, it was limited to 1 shop only (ASDA) and every time I went in there to buy a copy they never had any.

There was 1 on ebay over Christmas that went for around 30 and I ended up paying 25 for mine a few days ago.

Will get started on it once I finish Professor Layton

Picked up this one off ebay for about $15 last month. I got to spend some time over Easter weekend completing all the missions.

I have to say that I commend Magic Pockets for developing this one. Much like their first game based on the Nick cartoon, it isn't terribly ambitious. The graphics are so-so and the environments and gameplay is very repetitive. That said, it's the kind of repetition I could get into. I appreciated the fact that the player isn't required to defeat all enemies and can evade large sections if desired. But the real entertainment for me was earning experience points to level up the Turtles and their weapons, which is ironic because I usually hate that sort of thing. The level up system really gives the Turtles some powerful and fun attacks as you swap back and forth between them during melees. The amount of enemies in the game are surprisingly diverse and have some unique attacks that alter the player's strategy.

I think the isometric angle works well for this type of game, in great contrast to the bizarre camera seen n the first Nick TMNT game. Reminds me a lot of those old 16-bit games that promoted "3D graphics" back in the day. I actually do wish the voice actors had recorded entire dialogue lines in addition to just the generic one-liners, if only to hear Cam Clarke's Leo some more!

In addition to the simplicity of the gameplay, I appreciate the fact that this game's cutscenes is probably the closest we'll ever come to seeing an original cut of the 2014 live-action film. We get teased with little bits of backstory regarding how April, Karai, and Baxter might have been portrayed in the original cut. Overall, I think the game is a little too easy on account of the insanely generous 99-item limit for pizza or special weapons. It was just way too easy to cover over mistakes when you can refill your health with the push of a button. The challenge was a little greater for me since my 3DS has unresponsive shoulder buttons though.

Huh, maybe this is worth getting after all, then. $15 wouldn't be much to throw down, should I find a similar deal when I get around to it.

I think you can probably find some enjoyment in it as a Turtles fan, as well as thinking there are many things that were also missed opportunities. Basically, this game was to be the first follow-up to very different film than the one that made it to the theatre.

The inclusion of Rat King and Slash as bosses in this game was a great surprise and both battles were pretty tricky to figure out in my first playthrough. Among the glaring missed opportunities was the final fight with Shredder (which plays more like a gauntlet of the game's greatest hits than display any real creativity), and the absence of seemingly necessary battles against Baxter (who insults you at almost every cutscene before making you fight someone else) and Karai (don't known if she was supposed to be in jail or what).

I've heard that there may be some game-breaking bugs in the game that pretty much lock you into an area that you can't progress from and pretty much ruin your save file but I never encountered any. Therefore, you might consider extreme caution when tempted to backtrack during a mission.
