A version of the original 1990 movie was recently released in Germany:
http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Blu-ray/101086/

And I was curious if anyone has a copy of this and can verify if it is a NEW transfer or the same transfer as the original US Bluray box set?

The reason why it may be new and better than the original US release is because it looks like it was done by a different company. The original 1987 toon had a MUCH better transfer on the German DVD's than the Lion's Gate US release, so if this new bluray is indeed a new transfer, I may import again from ebay.

Didn't the German special edition DVD also include deleted scenes? I remember Roseangelo getting mad because the fandom expected those scenes to be posted online but she felt entitled because she had to pay to import it or whatever which it all ended with the deleted scenes being posted by another person online anyway.

Maybe it has those as well.

I don't mind the transfer of the US Blu-ray at all. I think it looks great! A lot of people seem to have issues with the grain, but that's exactly how it's supposed to look. The film exposure was pushed (increased) in processing, which introduces more pronounced grain.

What I DO mind is the lack of supplemental content in the US release. Give us a documentary focused on the production of the movie. The content is out there.

Since you're going to drag my name unnecessarily into a conversation...

I had nothing against someone posting the scenes online, but people were acting like I was obligated to do it myself and I simply chose not to. Yes, because I had spent my money on the DVD and I didn't feel like having people leech off of me in this instance. My money, my right.

Have you tried this thread http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=244149? You might find there what you looking for. Also, not that it really matters, but wasn't US releases from Warner?

I love the grain of the first movie, but if there is a transfer with more accurate colors or contrast, then I would prefer that version. Grain is no issue with me. And I HATE DNR and artificial sharpening/ edge enhancement.

And yes, the German DVD and bluray of the 1990 had special features missing from the US release, such as the director's commentary, alternative ending, and "deleted scenes."

Looks like the German Bluray has the same special features if you look at the back of the box: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00JEPKM82/ref=s9_simh_gw_p74_d14_i2?pf_rd_m=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1W87R1ZJT51Q8957P27H&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=455353807&pf_rd_i=301128

Cool site! A bit clunky to use, but I like it.

It looks like the US transfer is the winner. The exposure is pushed slightly in the German transfer, which will lead to more grain. The German transfer also looks to be cropped in very slightly. Barron originally wanted the exposure to be even darker, but Golden Harvest forced him to brighten it up after it was shot.

Now the special features... that's a different story. Can anyone confirm if the deleted scenes and alt ending are in HD?

MY EYES... MY EYES... that back cover design is hideous.

Wow, that caps-a-holic.com site is great!

The deleted scenes appear to be in this thread: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=244149
But it does not look like they are high def.

And I agree, that the US release is the winner for picture quality. The German version seems to be the SAME transfer (compare the Shredder close-up), it's just they boosted the lighting and contrast. Too bad. The Shredder shot has the same exact grain pattern as the US version.

But the German version has all the good features: commentaries by the directors of all 3 films, the deleted scenes, the 2nd movie's 'behind the shells' doc.

Only the alt ending is in the thread. The scene opens up with the TMNT on the rooftop dancing around.

From the way it sounds, the previous German SE DVD release had two deleted scenes. Well... unused or extended takes of scenes already in the film. Michaelangelo ordering pizza in the sewer, and the Turtles fighting the Foot in April's apartment.

I'm dying to hear Barron's commentary... maybe mildly interested to hear Pressman's.
