For fans of the old "Movie Star" Turtles from Playmates... Here is my attempt at a "Movie Star Shredder" based on his appearance in the original film (I was never a fan of the Super Shredder figure from Turtles II). I did my best to maintain the goofy fun of the vintage Turtles line with this custom, so it isn't completely screen accurate... but I feel it fits in well with his vintage "Movie Star" brethren.

Looks pretty good. My only suggestion would be to use a Mutatin' Shredder head and helmet, if you can get your hands on one, rather than the 2012 toyline versoin. But considering the Mutatin' Shredder is relatively obscure these days, I can totally understand using what you have available.

Despite that, I still like it. Definitely looks in line with the movie toyline.

Wow, that is a very cool custom Shredder action figure. I like how it looks like it fits in with the movie line, very good job. :)

The armor from that figure works good too. I've been doing them that way for years. I've got two in the works currently. I used to have all of my movie customs in my signature but I don't anymore.

I think the helmet is ambitious but awkward looking. The paint job could be cleaner, but that sort of thing takes a lot of practice.

Thanks for the kind words folks! I have been doing customs for awhile now, but this was my first foray into the vintage Turtles line, so I appreciate it. :)

As for the helmet choice and execution... For me personally, I believe there is a very fine line for doing customs in the vintage line between striving for accuracy and "matching" the look of the old toys. In a line where these are representations of their movie counterparts-

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g220/sallah4life/DSC04578_zps5fc74073.jpg (http://s57.photobucket.com/user/sallah4life/media/DSC04578_zps5fc74073.jpg.html)

....accuracy isn't really something that was upheld. :) I felt if I went too accurate with the helmet, he wouldn't patch in as nicely with the other movie star figures, and the effect would be so jarring that I should have just made a version for the Classic Collection instead....

That is just my opinion though for my personal display choice. :tgrin: I do LOVE the suggestion of the Mutatin' Shredder head! The helmet on that looks accurate while still maintaining the somewhat awkward look of the vintage line. I had totally forgot about it and appreciate that suggestion! I just ordered one off ebay and will do some work on it... If I end up liking it better, I'll make the switch and post some new pics when it is done.

Thanks!

The base figure is a Rebel Soldier from the 3rd film. It shares the Movie Star Foot Soldier body but has a unique head sculpt.

good call on the foot solider as a base... the texture on the foot solider figure painted in shredders colours really makes the figure match the movie shredder...

Ahh... I just assumed that was the foot soldier body. I wasn't even aware that the Rebel Soldier shared the same body. I don't own any of the movie figures besides the 4 turtles, Splinter, Shredder, and the foot soldier.

Thanks! Rick

I did a custom almost exactly like this a year or so ago. Only thing different was the head I used. I used the Super Shredder head and painted it to match the other armor pieces. Same base figure and color scheme.

No it isn't. Mutatin' Shredder is extremely common. I sold one just today.
