Not posted any work in progress for a while but this is what I have been tinkering with of late (among the many other wips I have on the go sigh), my recycled turtle lair.

Found an old garage playset on the street
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7469/16077044390_a67471777d.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/quF4bw)

took it home and cleaned it up
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7565/16263598382_4a4012b48b.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qMacbE)

and gave it a coat with some spray paint
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8679/16078562127_47b3d6a7a9.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/quNQmp)

old cod liver container with craft foam
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7561/15642006584_423d207237.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/pQenAG)

tiolet roll tubes, craft foam and spots of hot glue to make the rivets
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7500/16078552607_44d766f2c9.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/quNMwg)

base coat of spray paint

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7517/16077046390_6ba71ddfcc.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/quF4M1)

The lair so far

top most layer is going to be splinters meditation area
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8676/16076892838_2805f5cbd4.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/quEh8y)

the dorr is made from a bit of disposable bbq mesh, cardboard and hot glue

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7581/15642003024_bb9fa6f23e.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/pQemxj)

as you can see the scale for the lif is not ideal but I think it works
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7561/16264421265_e54743199c.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qMepNi)
and thats it so far, I have plenty of ideas to expand on it and add to it

as always, thoughts, comments and critisims welcome

Love it, love seeing Turtle Lair designs. I've actually lost my work space, including areas to display, due to the fact I have a baby on the way in a few months. Not that t I mind the sacrifice for that, hopefully they'll be a fan as they get older and we can work on things together.

or build it now with "they'll grow into it" in mind, isnt that how most parent bought toys that were really bought for them works? congrats on the new arrival when it arrives :)
