View Full Version : The Turtlebox - My MAME Control Panel

So, I collect Arcade and Pinball machines. I've had some luck finding things for cheap, and in the couple years since I started I've amassed around 20 cabs and 10 pinballs. Most eveything is still in project state as I slowly restore things.

Getting a TMNT or TIT is my holy grail, and I have had no luck so far. At some point I would like to scratch build a cab if I need to, but in the meantime, I built this control panel.

A lot of people think building a four player mame cab is overkill, odds are you wont have four players enough to use it and justify the space. However, I have three boys. Currently only 7, 4 and 2, but I can see a four player upright getting a lot of use in our house.

Anyways, here is what we built to get our Turtles arcade fix for now. I play to redo this at some point and make it a lot cleaner, but this was basically the prototype, and I've been very pleased with it.

Please ignore the state of our playroom and the potato quality of the pictures.

I'm starting to think that recreating the cabinet will actually be cheaper than buying a used one as well. There are a couple of websites that might help you in that regard.

Cabinet Plans -- http://jakobud.com/plan.php?id=31
Side Art -- http://www.gameongrafix.com/products/teenage-mutant-ninja-tmnt-sideart

The site with the side art also has the marquee and control panel art.
