Did anybody see this (http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/2220/)? It's a patch to enable the bosses. I know you could enable them with codes, but this makes it easier!

I saw it almost five years ago (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=29926&highlight=Tournament+Fighters).

How do I patch the rom? I use Lunar IPS for SNES games but I've never used hacks for Genesis.

@ Ninjinister: Yeah I know. But this enables them on the select screen instead of picking a character then enabling the code just to play as them

@ Powder: I just used Lunar IPS and it worked fine.

Oh, awesome, I didn't realize it worked on more than SNES. Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to give this a whirl.

Yeah it works on any IPS files. And I already ripped the boss sprites (http://www.spriters-resource.com/genesis_32x_scd/tmnttournementfighters/) a LONG time ago in case anybody wanted to do that. They're fun to play as. I haven't played this in years so I forgot the move lists and so far only Triceraton has a Desperation Move as far as I know.

I was so thankful to learn of this patch.

It was truly a crime against gamers everywhere that the bosses weren't playable by default. As a kid, I thought the screencaps on the back of the box strongly suggested the characters could be unlocked in the non-story modes. My best guess was that you had to successfully complete the Survival Mode to unlock them.

Even with all my cheap tactics of spamming Raphael's grapple stab or April's sliding leg sweep... I never got close.

I've completed Survival Mode, which had extremely stupid structure and you know what I received as a prize...?
Screen with GONGRATULATIONS!! text and that's it.

While the graphics were very good and music was awesome, gameplay sucked and generally the whole game felt quite rushed.

Pics or it didn't happen! J/K :tlol:

Seriously, though, you deserve some commendation. I felt like the life bars in survival mode got depleted really fast the further one got. I actually like the basic gameplay of the Genesis cart, but some of those fights can end really quickly when the CPU AI gets on a roll.

Sorry, I should have write that I used savestates. :-P

Without cheating, on the real console, I was able to get to the battle 72, I think, by abusing Casey's bomb AI disabling tactic.

Heh, I had forgotten about that. Never discovered until Youtube though:

Ugh, yeah, I was never any good with Casey, but in the service of the CPU, I think he had the potential to be the cheapest character in the game. He had that seemingly infinite spin technique (at least the AI did... I could never make that work) where he was temporarily invulnerable.

Ah. The spin attack that still haunts my dreams at night. Not as bad as that stupid roller from the nes game but close
