View Full Version : If they made a Next Mutation movie would you go see it?

Something wrapping up all the loose ends for the lone season. Or a whole new story within itself.

no Next Mutation is the worst thing TMNT ever spawned in my eyes.

Isn't it already what resulted after a forth movie idea was canceled?

It's badness is now amusing as a short lived series, but as a movie...

I'd watch it. If anything it would fall into "so bad, it's good" territory, which would at least be entertaining.

I'd watch it, but I think the real question is why would they even make a NM movie?

id watch it...would be better than the current movie and have a real source

I absolutely would! I'd also be fine with a revival comic or something else in that vein.

No way would I ever watch it.

I watched Turtle Tunes, Christmas, and the 2014 movie (that one twice.) I think I can handle a Next Mutation movie.

At worst it couldn't be worse than what we got this year. At best some of the concepts from TNM could be really good if done right, so yeah I'd see it.

Turtle Christmas always puts me in the spirit. I think I need to watch that tonight.

It'll come as a surprise to nobody here that I'd totally see it. :tcool:

Isn't that what we got in this year?

Overly bulky turtles with plastrons that look like molded muscle and radically different and completely unnecessary accessories, The female character is not only the focus of the story but needlessly shoe horned into their origin story.

Even Michelangelo's come ons to Venus early in the series is like an innocent version of him horning after April in the movie. Donatello's satellite tracking station seems vaguely reminiscent of his big brother-esque security system he has all over the city in the movie.

I do believe some of this is intentional as several people involved in making this movie said the sum of their research was looking at every still image they could find so I don't think it's implausible that they saw things like the Next Mutation designs or artwork based on it of course I do think a lot of the similarities between the two are just born out of the same flawed thought process.

That being said I'd say The Next Mutation is "better" (if only marginally). Baring in mind that I've barely watched the series since it first broadcast but from what I remember the actual episodes were generally simple plots and even the logic holes weren't that big a deal in the context of the overtly silly and nonsensical tone they had. Compared to the 2014 which seemed to have parts which seemed to want to be like The Dark Knight and then used humour too juvenile for...well The Next Mutation.

I'd also reluctantly give the series props for the series having the guts to use it's own villains as dispensing of the Shredder. It's pretty clear Platinum Dunes did not want to use Shredder and the Foot in their stories but not having the guts to not use them decided to rework the characters into the kind they wanted...until Paramount forced them to reshoot. 8)

It's bound to be better then that other one that just came out so I'd watch it

But if Nick was behind it and had many of the same people make it as this new one... o.O

Minus the cartoon sound effects, it'd end up being better than what we just got, for sure. I'd bite, why not?

I wouldn't say Venus was the focus... I look at it this way: Next Mutation was TMNT done in Power Rangers style. BayTurtles was TMNT done in Bayformers style. While they seem to have surface similarities, if you dig a little deeper, they're very different in tone and execution.

I remember watching an interview somewhere (can't for the life of me remember where), where the guys behind NM said that they were trying to make the style for NM like the very silly, over-the-top martial arts movies from a certain period (I can't remember the specific style he cited, but yeah).

Clearly, not a stylistic choice that worked, but hindsight's always 20/20.

Right there with ya, a revival comic would be amazing!

If the production value i.e. turtle costumes/film quality/story/origin are trashy like in the tv series.. no thanks.

Scrap everything and start anew.

Sure, not in theaters, I wait until it hits the 5$ bin. Perhaps with better writing, I think of going to the theaters.

you like the 2014 movie origin but you hate TNM? TNM is closer to the actual origin than bays film.

The 2014 liebesman movie origin is more like the comics with the lab Origin. Minus the reincarnation.

I'd go to see any Ninja Turtle movie.

A Next Mutation movie is fun to think about; I imagine that they would Power Rangers it up and sideline Dragon Lord for an original, one time only villain (the screenwriters get more residuals that way).

I could barely get through the first episode of TNM. It's funny this question popped up, because there was a TNM movie with Venus pitched at one point.

I'd watch it. I've seen every other version of TMNT, so why the heck not? I'd no doubt despise it just like I despise TNM, but hey. At least I'd have seen every version still. :P

I guess so. I just bought the 4 disc dvd set. I haven't watched it yet... I've seen most of the series before, and it is at times, painful to watch. That said, it's TMNT and deserves to be given a chance.

I just watched the first episode of Next Mutation for the first time ever. Holy Shell it is cringeworthy. The voices for the turtles are horrible.

I'm pretty sure anyone that saw (and liked) the PD movie would rush out to see this one. Kinda obvious they'd see anything with the TMNT label attached to it.

I'd go see it! Would like to see...

1). Raph in a motorcycle race

2). Leo & Venus getting down!

3). Mikey playing the drums with a human band.
