Hi, guys :) I'd like to share images of my fan-artwork: my TMNT pinatas! I'm a big TMNT fan and since I know how to make pinatas, I decided to make pinatas of my favorite turtles! :D I hope you'll like them:

So Mikey, Leo and Raph are done. Only Donnie left to do, which I greatly look forward to. Whenever I get some free time, I'll make sure I do pinata out of our favorite purple guy as well.

Thank you :) Yeah, I feel bad about crushing them too, so I always attach pull string to the lid so that content can escape without having to damage the pinata.

My best friend, a gifted crafter, helped me make pinata Michelangelo with full figure! :D I was very happy with the result:

The cute Mikey toy placed in the center of giant nunchakus served us as a maquette. It took us around two weeks to finish; the pinata's height is 20 inches. We plan to eventually make all members of TMNT team :tsmile: We will do it when time permits it, and I will post it here when we do.

I know this is a really old topic and I'm not sure why this doesn't have many comments, but I think these pinatas are neat! And kudos on pull strings. I definitely wouldn't want to hit it if I had one. ^_^

Thanks, Gunstar_Red :D I appreciate it.

Hey, something crossed my mind, maybe I can give you guys a tutorial here how to make your own Ninja Turtle pinata. It's rather simple, and the material you need is really cheap (water, flower, some adhesive tape, paper glue, newspaper, few sheets of white paper, some collage paper (for eyes and mouth), and of course green and orange/blue/read/purple tissue paper.

Step 1. Blow a strong, tough balloon of a wanted size,
Step 2. Prepare a mixture of water and flower (mix 4 spoons of flower with 500ml of water).
Step 3. Cut newspaper and white paper in long strips. Dip them in paste you prepared earlier and lay them on the balloon. Put about 3 layers of newspaper strips and one layer of white paper strips. Let it dry.
Step 4. Let everything dry, after which you should attach two strings of which the pinata would hang. First fix them with duck tape where you think they should be. If the balance is okay, and your pinata hangs straight, you can fix the strings with glue and few layers of paper.
Step 5. Cut a long and thin strings of green pissue-paper and then cut fringes on one side of the string. Cut enough strings to cover your whole pinata. Apply fringed green tissue-paper with glue to your pinata. Start with the bottom of pinata. Add the next layer so that upper layer covers the lower layer. Keep doing it until whole pinata is covered. Allow it to dry.
Step 6. Cut a long and double folded strip of pissue-paper in color of your turtle. Glue it to the upper part of your pinata and leave some behind hanging. Put a little bit of pissue-paper around the end to resemble a knot.
Step 7. Glue eyes and mouth previously drawn and cut from collage paper.
Step 8. Cut the opening with the lid at the bottom of pinata in order to add candy. Make two small holes, one on the lid and one on the pinata directly across the lid. Pull a long string through both holes and tie it (in similar way you would a shoelace). That way, pinata doesn't have to be broken in order for candy to fall out. Just make sure the string is long enough it can be pulled. You can add as many strings as you like (the additional strings can be pulled through only one hole in the lid, after which you attach them by making a knot at the end).

Here's my short video on how to make basic shape of pinata:

Feel free to ask anything you like, I can add additional tutorials and videos if someone would like to make their very own Ninja Turtle pinata :)

Awesome~! I'm actually going to try this (probably next month). I'm always up for trying something new. Thanks for the tutorials! ...But I pretty sure mine is not going to be as cool as yours. ^^;

Some awesome work you've done here, it'd be a real shame to destroy them.

But if they are in fact stuffed with candy, I'm going to need your address. I will have to inspect these pinatas with my trusty "Rating stick" to ensure they meet industry standards & that the contents within are in fact edible.

Amazing job on those. They're probably the best pinatas I've ever seen. The colors look great too.

Thanks everyone :) Your support means a lot.

Please, make sure you post a pic of your Ninja Turtle pinata, I would love to see it ;)

I just want to note that the tutorial I gave is of basic level, I use advance level because I have two years experience of making pinatas. As a beginner, I also used to cut eyes and mouths from collage paper (you can also print and glue eyes and mouth if you can find quality image on net). At this level, I actually draw and paint the eyes and mouths before adding frayed tissue paper to pinata. I use acrylic paint because it covers pinata more evenly that regular tempera. You can paint your pinata as well - in fact, you can make a small pinata for your first try. You can use only paint to decorate it - no tissue-paper. You would have to paint turtle's skin, bandana, eyes and mouth, so you would need around 4 colors for one turtle (green, blue, black and white). I use clear acrylic coating to cover finished artwork (I apply coating with brush). For bandana you can use cardboard: cut it in a shape of two bandana ends (it actually resembles fish fin/tail). After that you can color it in whatever color you choose for bandana and attach it to pinata with some glue. I actually recommend cutting a small opening with scalpel on the pinata where you want bandana to be, and then to insert a part of cardboard you previously painted and prepared. The part of cardboard that is inserted into pinata should be covered with glue on one side and pressed against the pinata. That way it would stick more firmly.

Those are AWESOME.

I suppose to be able to bring myself to the point of being able to actually bash those, I'd have to pretend I was a Foot Clan initiate. Or maybe Bebop or Rocksteady letting off some steam. :tlol:
