Well, as we know, the Mystic Turtles are atrocious.

So I fixed Leo...

Finally invested in Citadel paints... why did I not do this sooner!!!

Weapons aren't done yet and the flash really accentuates the dry brushing... it really isn't that harsh.

I will do the others. I'm not doing them to be accurate to the show, just bring more of a "based" on look.

add more details man! go crazy...

Lol! I plan to! His cape also has the details done, I just didn't take 360 degree photos.

I need to get more paints. I'm going to find a shell color (front and back) and the green for the skin. Just didn't get them yet. He's not done, but just painting these parts have made a drastic change!

cut up athletic tape does wonders... especially when dirtied up...

Ha! Not looking to go that far! I've seen people do it, but it's not my cup of tea.

So I've almost finished Leo. Just need to paint the sword handles. I decided to cut up the cape and make it the ripped version. Just kinda weaved the scissors and then took my side cutters and did the "notching" like Playmates had to keep the same theme. Also cut the plastic arrow and draw string. Used some thread and made a new one. Might go with something thicker... dunno at this point.

My question to anyone who would like to answer... what would be a good quiver? Just looking for something that would go with his size and the only character I can think of is Hawkeye off the top of my head. Thought some of you that know more characters might have an idea.

I think you've done a really great job of the custom as a whole, and speaking as an archer, I think the thread you have used looks perfect for the scale.

Awesome! Thanks for the compliments! The thread keeps the "springiness" so putting it on his back is really easy.

Btw swords are done!

So here's how I spent my Sunday. All for turtles are 99% finished. Still need to get some cord for Raphael's gas tanks and flamethrowers. I went ahead and wrapped Michelangelo's, Raphael's and Donatello's weapons with thread so I wouldn't have paint rubbing.

All in all I think they turned out great and I am completely thrilled!!!

I'll put up individual photos tomorrow because I'm on my phone, that way you can see them in more detail.

Very nice, though I'd like to see you paint Leo & Mikey's mouths to make em perfect!

Thanks both of you!

To Powder... I pondered that... there's not a ton of detail in there, thought I might be safer NOT doing that... lol! I also wanted to do the spots on Mikey. But there isn't any guideline on him for that. Not saying I won't try something if I feel inclined.

any details on how you did the weapons? paint used, etc.?

Just used the Citadel paints. The blades are done in a Lead color... and then just painted with the standard base colors. Since I wrapped Mike, Raph and Don's weapons with thread, I didn't seal them. Leo's swords on the other hand, I love the handles and hated to ruin them with thread so I sealed them with clear fingernail polish... (my wife has a ton of it lol).

I had to put 2 coats on the swords though, and as long as I'm easy with them they don't seem to chip or rub. However the blades did as they were put in the sheaths. So in order for them to fit I'm going to have to sand them down and repaint them. But since I'm looking for a quiver to put on his back, figured when I have the paints out doing that I'll fix the swords.

Very nice, man, this is a staggering improvement. I just wish the head sculpts weren't so soft; I've hated all the show-accurate heads so far.

I liked the idea of the Mystic Leonardo, but couldn't pull the trigger. But I really liked the idea of Leo with a bow, so I donated NECA Jungle Disguise Dutch's bow:
