Well if all goes well we should have a new Muppet Show in the fall on ABC!

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed “The Big Bang Theory” co-creator Bill Prady is co-writing the script for a pilot presentation to be shown in May to advertisers. If everyone likes what they see, ABC is expected to give a straight-to-series order.

*arms flailing* Yay!!

Initial reports suggest that, like the TV series that aired in syndication from 1976 to 1981, the pilot will be a comedy-variety series featuring celebrity cameos. It’s also expected to introduce new characters, including Fozzie’s girlfriend and her parents

Fozzie's getting a love interest and potential in-laws?! :o

Hey, I LOVE BBT, so what's wrong with Prady? I say bring it on!! Also, if Kermit can have Piggy (an odd pair, to be sure) then by gum, Fozzy can get a gal, too! Which really just leaves Gonzo as the odd man out, unless you count the chicken..... (So, does he "choke his chicken"??)

Gonzo and Camilla are a couple. I remember one special in the 90's at Disneyworld where they're exploring and find the laundrymatt and Gonzo sings a song about how much fun it would be to make love in one...at the end of the song Gonzo and Camilla dives into a pile of clothes and she uh...screams his name. Seriously.

Then there's Muppet Wizard of Oz which focuses on their relationship and his love for her.

What makes Big Bazoople Theory so appealing? Serious.

The most insulting thing my in-laws have ever said to me, or perhaps anyone ever, is that they thought Big Bang would be "right up my alley". Worst moment of my life.

Hope the old guys that make insults return.

I don't like Big Bang Theory but this is a totally different show. Comparing them based on writers doesn't make sense.

That's one of thing about nowadays. We see and know who makes tv and movies and assume things instead of taking them for what they are.

I'm sure none of us growing up watched stuff and thought...oh so-and-so is involved. Not a good sign.

BBT is horsesh*t. For one, it's just another formulaic multi cam show with terrible writing. My main beef with it is how stereotypical it is towards how "normal" people view "nerds". It's written for the lowest common denominator.

I saw a few episodes of Big Bang Theory. I wasn't very impressed. None of the characters are very likable except Sheldon, who's treated like dirt by everyone else in the show.

I will admit though that every now and then they would made a joke that was almost funny.

Another cash in reboot.

Sigh.

R-really? You liked them?

The first one I saw and I couldn't stand it. Songs were good but the comedy felt half-assed.

Maybe the second one was good, though I never bothered with it (the trailers looked promising, though).

I wonder what sorts of celebrity guests will be in this iteration. Kanye West? Jennifer Lawrence? Kim Kardashian? Guh, I'm getting sick just thinking about it.

Ok new info coming out. Seems that this show will be a docu-drama type ala The Office. It'll focus more on their personal lives outside the studio and be considered a more adult show. Im not sure if I want to see the personal lives....but I am curious about Gonzo/Camilla.

I'll be down to check this out. I love The Muppets. You just can't deny their charm. I grew up watching reruns of the Muppet Show, the original Muppet movies and Muppet Babies. Even after all of these years I still went to see the new Muppet movies in theaters even though the first one was just ok and the second was really bad.

The celebrity cameos aspect of the new show will be uninteresting mostly because today's pop culture celebrities can't hold a candle to the pop culture celebrities from the original Muppet Show. Kind of bummed to see that new Muppet from the new movies on the show (he's so bland and forgettable that I can't even remember his name) but I guess that was to be expected. Hopefully he won't have a big role. Just give me lots of The Great Gonzo. He was always my favorite. Also, lots of Statler and Waldorf!

So some stuff revealed at Comic Con:

The main plot is that Piggy has her own late night talk show called Up Late With Miss Piggy. Fozzie is her side-kick, Kermit's exec Producer, Writers are Gonzo, Pepe, and Rizzo, Scooter's the talent coordinator, Bobo is Stage manager, Sam is head of broadcast standards (of course!), Denise (Kermit's girlfriend) is head of marketing.

Rowlf runs the bar across the street where the gang hangs out after work.

As for their personal lives. We know Fozzie's dating a human and Kermit's dating Denise but apparantly Gonzo's gonna try some online dating?!?! WTF?! So is he not with Camila anymore?! :ohwell:

And also possibly Ellen DeGeneres, Neil Gaiman, Tracee Ellis Ross, Ming Na (she and Kermit seemed rather chummy in some tweets), Emmy Rossum, Alan Cumming, Marc Jacobs, and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

I watched the Christmas special. I still don't care much for Fozzie/Becky but it did lead into a great conversation between him and Piggy, and later with Kermit and Piggy. I like that Piggy is the underdog in the will they/won't they game and that there's hints she could possibly start trying to fight to earn him back, and that Kermit's a bit confused about his own feelings (hence why he's glad for the mid-season break). We'll see.

Kermit's strategy to get the whole cast in the musical number to cover up the awful singing was great too.

https://www.yahoo.com/movies/classic-sketches-returning-favorites-inside-muppets-midseason-reboot-150000322.html

"Up Late" will become more Fallon-like and will have sketches, some may be updates on existing ones from the classic series, there will be storylines centring on an energized Piggy and Kermit's relationship, and the addition of a recurring human antagonist played by Utkarsh Ambudkar
The finale will also feature several classic Muppets returning.

How it should be handled it by not "handling" it at all, though if our options are only "edit the material," "don't air the material at all," or "include a 'warning,'" then of course the latter is optimal.
