What are some of your favourite moments in games? I know there are a ton out there, so this should make for some great discussion. I'm sure there will be spoilers in here, so if anyone wants to talk about something very specific (especially if recent) then please use spoiler tags. If it's a 10 year old game or something, I think the statute of limitations is long up, but at least try to be mindful.

Here are a few of my favourite moments that immediately pop into my head...

Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Throwback Galaxy

x5nfZbKJIpk

There had been a lot of talk about a really awesome "retro" galaxy level in SMG2 before release and I was super excited. I had no clue exactly what it would entail, but when I hit the ground and that music started playing I nearly lost my sh*t. Absolutely one of the most incredible moments I've ever had playing a game and it legit almost brought a tear to my eye. The nostalgia was palpable.

Saint's Row The Third - Power

OxDZv_1NcMs

So, yeah. Best use of a licensed song in the history of games? Holy sh*t! Saint's Row is all jokes, but god damn if this scene isn't legitimately bad ass. I got goosebumps during this mission.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - Final Battle

s6anqaLFt84

This one is pretty close to tops in my book. I think the final Ganondorf vs Link fight in Twilight Princess may actually be better by a hair, but the final blow in Wind Waker is such an awesome image. You also can't beat the fact that you're dueling Ganondorf as Hyrule Castle is buried by the sea. Absolutely amazing.

Knights of the Old Republic - The Darth Revan Reveal

YOU ARE DARTH REVAN! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Metal Gear Solid 3's revelation that you were playing as Big Boss, the main villain of the series. The parallel's between Star Wars is uncanny, with the series starting off with Solid Snake and Big Boss is hyped up as this ultimate villain who must be stopped at all costs.

Then you find out Big Boss is Snake's "father," similar to Luke/Vader, and then you get prequels showing that Big Boss actually isn't evil after all, he's actually a tragic fallen hero.

Metal Gear Solid V will be fantastic especially since we'll finally see Big Boss' final transformation into what he becomes. If the rumors are true about the game possibly covering the events of Metal Gear 1 and 2 as well, seeing Snake confront Big Boss in 3D will be one of the greatest gaming moments ever.

Bayonetta 2 comes to mind since it's pretty recent. I'll spoiler it.

The part of the story when you get thrown back in time is great. The best part is when you fight the bosses from the first game. When ****ing Fortitudo comes out and his theme starts playing I was like AAAAAAAAAAW YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. The other bosses popping up were great too, but Fortitudo was the first one and also has the best theme. I was hyped, man.

Kirby Triple Deluxe has that level that's amazing. At the end of the game one of the bonus levels is you doing all the nova fruit or whatever sections again, but while the Fountain of Dreams music from Smash Brothers plays. Again, I was all AAAAAAAAAAAW YEAH and was happy to play those sections again with that music.

Fighting the Death Egg Robot and Perfect Chaos in Sonic Generations is spine tingling the first time.

It's kind of lame to admit, but the story in Ace Combat Zero is pretty cool and also kind of sad. I don't remember anything about the actual dumb war, but I do know that the relationship you had with your wing man was done well, so it actually kinda hurt when he betrays you. The last level where you fight him is dope and has great music, as well.

Yo, remember the end of the original Yoshi's Island? I was a kid when that came out, still naive and innocent. When Baby Bowser gets all huge and he slowly comes towards you from the horizon I was like whaaaaaaat is happeniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. That was awesome.

Persona 4.

Ocarina of Time:

Sheik turning out to be Zelda. I was like "WOAH!". Ofc nowadays it'd be pretty predictable but I was 8-9 years old at the time, guys.

I know it's a 1998 game, but it's been remade for the 3ds a few years ago, so I'm sure many people want to play it for the first time.

A Link to the Past:

This one doesn't require a spoiler tag, imo. Link turning into a rabbit the first time he goes into the Dark World. I was like "what the heck?!". I swear, it's one of the most hilarious moments in a Nintendo video game

Banjo-Kazooie:

Here I am, ready to face Gruntilda and yet... I have to play a board game. So that's why I kept being told random facts about her throughout the game by her sister!

Pretty fun "level".

Capcom vs. SNK 2:

Finally beating ****ing Ultimate Rugal. Arguably the cheapest boss I've ever faced in a fighting game. It's bad enough already that he's very powerful... but then he absorbs Demon Akuma's goddamn powers including his one-hit kill with the kanji character on the background?! Holy...

The beginning of The Legend Of Zelda A Link To The Past. The whole beginning. From the chime with the pieces of the Triforce coming together as the Master Sword crashes through it at the title screen, to waking up in the rain in the middle of the night, rescuing the princess, man, so climactic. It was the first game I ever played, & it left a deep impression on me.

Getting warped from The Technodrome in Turtles In Time. Those graphics were so funky & the levels that follow are just so fun. There were lots of memorable gags in there, too. Getting flattened by wrecking balls & raptor herds, Krang's android body shooting lasers up at the scaffolding, getting electrocuted in various ways, etc.

Like Cure, the final battle in Yoshi's Island was just insaaane back in the day, so that takes a top spot for me as well. It was graphically impressive, it got your adrenaline going, the gameplay was super fun, great music, just a totally awesome experience. What a great game that is.

Predictably, I've got more than one TMNT game in mind. SNES's Tournament Fighters. I'll always remember encountering the big baddies for the first time. Rat King, then the evil, purple skinned, turquoise shelled, maroon mask wearing turtle clone, & ultimately, Karai. Getting good enough to step up to them over time felt really good, 'cause I was quite a young little dude. :trazz:

Encountering/battling/catching Missingno. in Pokemon Blue. That glitch is legendary, & was the coolest thing ever. I've loved glitchy design aesthetics ever since. I named mine Virus, & he's still on my team in the working cartridge to this day.

Playing the water level in DKC for the first time. So enchanting.

Final boss fight in Wario. Dunno why. :tlol:

Yea, the game had a pretty memorable beginning. Also, that music that played when Link walks to Hyrule Castle to find his uncle and Princess Zelda. So much tension. And then Link enters Hyrule Castle and you hear this:

...I think it's safe to say that I speak for a lot people that most of us knew we were in for an amazing game once this piece started playing.

Every time Kain has an inner monologue in Blood Omen: Legacy Of Kain.

The last two boss fights in God Of War: Ghost Of Sparta.

The boss of the Palace of Winds in The Legend Of Zelda: The Minish Cap.

Finding this thing in Bloodborne scared the ever-loving bejeezus out of me! A wonderful moment.

Just about every Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Metal Gear Solid, or Resident Evil game has at least one "amazing" moment in it where you just sit back and stare in awe. Its impossible to list them all.

For those of us who have been playing the same franchises for over 20 years, its amazing how these games can still impress after so many iterations and still put out some memorable moments. Every time you think a previous game can't possibly be topped, a new one comes out that you like just as much or moreso.

I'm currently marathoning through the Metal Gear Solid series so I'm in a MGS mood at the moment, but I have to say Snake and Otacon's "bromance" in MGS2 when they hug after his sister dies and that theme music plays gets me every time. Every Metal Gear Solid game has amazing moments, its just impossible to list them all.

I'll roll with that. In addition to much of what's already been said about other popular favorites, I'd probably say "Metal Gear. Just all of it."

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time & The Wind Waker had such powerful moments in them for me as well. Pretty much all the Zelda titles did, but I think those are my favorites.

I second that moment in Turtles in Time when you get sent to the Technodrome. I loved how characters got thrown onto your TV screen in battle too, lol.

This is pretty silly, but in Marvel vs Capcom 3 where Deadpool starts shooting like crazy while saying "Bang, bang, bang" it cracks me up every freaking time! The first time that happened I lost the fight cause I couldn't stop laughing. It was also pretty great when he slaps the opponent with the life meter!!

Also the ending just before the actual ending in Bioshock Infinite where Booker finds out that Elizabeth is his daughter. I wanted them to just stop there, but they kept going and it got too weird for me.

My first RPG ever. I was so excited...That was when I didn't know what an RPG was cuz I was eight or something--but it was still really awesome and the opening still gets me pumped!

I was all whaaat this is a game?! Awesomeeee! And that cutie Nall is my favorite dragon-kitty in the world. I wish every dragon in history had a Lunar version of them. I wanna see Draco from Dragon Heart as a Lunar dragon. And Toothless and Smaug. That's all I can think of right now.

What about the first time playing the Elite Four in Pokémon RBY? And then beating Blue/Gary at the end? Felt like the biggest accomplishment of my life back then.

Completing the 150 Pokedex in RBY was an amazing feeling back then. 151 if you were a very lucky boy.

Now that there's over 712 pokemon, good luck ever completing the Pokedex in a single game ever again.

The final fight in Wind Waker is a huge one for me. That is by far my favorite Ganon fight. And there's a ton of dialogue in the Legacy of Kain series that I'm sure deserves to be listed, but there's no way I can find a video of my fav bits. Talk about a game that needs a sequel...or a reboot.

My absolute hands-down fav moment in gaming ever is the Bahamut vs Alexander fight in Final Fantasy IX. This scene blew my eyeballs out the back of my head when I first played through it back in the day. It's just amazing.

The 13th Colossus in Shadow of the Colossus is one of my favorite things in a game. Everything about it is perfect: music, design, scale, atmosphere....It's just perfect. I love this thing.

This one was more just really enjoyable. I really liked Castlevania:LOS and this fight was pretty damn cool. You really needed to dodge and counter everything so it was a lot of fun.

Also, it's newer, but everything that happens at the end of Telltale's The Walking Dead Season 2 is the most amazing thing ever that ever happened.

Some of my favourite moments in video games were in Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars, Skies of Arcadia Legends, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Pokemon Blue, Crazy Taxi, Wind Waker, Super Mario World, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, Shenmue series and Golden Sun series.

Super Mario World - from meeting Yoshi to getting a feather and flying, and that underwater flying ship level with all the ghosts - still probably my favourite game of all time. I remember coming home from school, walking into the living room and my parents had moved the sofa round in front of the telly and had just started up SMW for me and my sister getting in and I nearly lost my sh*t I was so excited.

Batman: Arkham Asylum when I thought the game had crashed, and gone back to the start. Great wee moment. Also when you're walking along the corridor and it starts changing into the alley in which your parents died.

The entirety of Submerged Castle in Pikmin 2...that's one of my favorite vg segments of all time, and it used to scare me sh*tless when I was 9.

Super Mario World, you say? The final battle with Bowser. So simple yet it never seems to get old. The beginning of the music before the battle starts, and then his flying flower thing looking pissed in the final phase of the battle and also Peach throwing power-ups at you... man. And then the ending and the staff roll. Makes you wanna go back to the 90s and to your childhood.

Quite a few for me, but one recently stands out:

Escaping the sinking ship in Uncharted 3.

It's actually hard to pin point a even a few. So many moments in Resident evil games and Zelda.

I guess to name a few off the top of my head,
When Steve dies in Resident evil Code Veronica

When John dies at the end of red dead redemption

When Link is reunited with Epona in Twighlight Princess.

The Goodsoup Plantation Resort Hotel and Casino from Curse of Monkey Island; especially outside. There is something magical about the music and ambiance.

Also, the beat poetry part of Grim Fandango.

Beating Dracula in Super Castlevania IV was pretty rad too.
