If I have to pick then waffles. Not a big pancake person, nor breakfast in general.

Put some scrambled eggs and bacon on the side for either one and brew some coffee, and you get me coming over to your house for breakfast.

I'm not a huge fan of either -- I can't have them without syrup, but syrup is SO sugary, holy ****. It's way too much for me. I eat pancakes or waffles maybe twice a year because that's all I can take.

But put me down for waffles regardless.

Carbs and sugar are the devil. Cause you to have heart disease.

I prefer an egg white omelet with veggies and no cheese. Add a side of kombucha and I'm a happy breakfaster

To be fair, lately I've been buying the bags of De Wafelbakkers's maple infused pancakes, as well as a bag of maple flavored sausage patties, a dozen eggs, and some sandwich cheese to make homemade McGriddles. DELICIOUS!

See? Isn't this a nice, happy thread so far? Everybody is getting along with each other.

We need more of these.

I was originally going to combine waffles and pancakes and say pancaffles, but chose to opt it out.

I voted neither, because I can't decide! Also, Jester mentioned French Toast- YES!! Actually, all of the above. That's my choice. Can I have my pancakes with blueberries or chocolate chips? And butter and strawberry jelly on the waffles. Okay, now I just really want fluffy pancakes or waffles. Darn it.

When in the US, I tend to prefer pancakes. However, here in the UK, I tend to have cereal, or if I need filling up for a long day, then a traditional British breakfast - sausage, eggs, (proper) bacon, mushrooms, beans, tomato, hash browns, toast. Lovely ;)

I voted pancakes, especially the kind with chocolate chips on them. Yum! I'll have waffles every once in a while, but pancakes are waaay better.

I like Crepes which are basically super thin pancakes, but damn delicious.

My wife vastly prefers pancakes. I grew up just plain hating pancakes for some reason, and always had either waffles or French Toast, but I'm okay with them now. She likes to go to IHOP on her Birthday, so they've grown on me. But I'd still rather have waffles or French Toast instead.

Tons of fruit all over that mess, whatever it is. Blueberries, strawberries... now I wanna go make breakfast, and everyone's asleep.

Needless to say, due to our proximity to France, this is what our pancakes are like... more like crepes. There's a new cafe just opened literally two minutes walk from my flat called Love Crepe (yes, in a certain accent, that sounds rude heh), and they do some excellent fare.

Waffles, obviously.
1) They are square
2)The syrup can sink into the holes
3)Sweet or savory, they taste so good

Pancakes. Waffles tend to loose their heat too fast, while pancakes stay warm long enough for the butter to melt on them. I also don't drown them in maple syrup, but just drizzle enough to make them sweet.

Also, one of my favorite meals is pancake soup. It involves savory pancakes, (that is, no sugar added to them) chicken broth, scallions and diced cooked chicken breast. The pancakes are sliced into strips and dropped into the broth along with the chicken, broth, and scallions.

Being Norwegian I probably have a different relationship with Waffles and Pancakes compared to others, as Waffles are desserts and not breakfast or dinner, usually enjoyed with jam or butter and sugar. While Pancakes are a whole lot more versatile as a meal, although more for dinner.

Off the two, I think I prefer pancakes for their versatility. I love pancakes with bacon, blueberry jam and sugar, or filled with minced meat, tomato sauce and topped with melted cheese.

For now, I prefer pancakes. I might get tired of pancakes soon (I've been eating them for years) so I will probably prefer waffles soon.

When it comes to pancakes, nothing beats Denny's $4 all you can eat pancakes.

First you start with three, then two more. So I usually have five. makes it 80 cents a pancake (unless I have a 20% off coupon, making it 64 cents a pancake).

I love pancakes. Haven't had them in ages but love them. Waffles are awesome, but I can eat 3 of those things and still be hungry. Gimme about two pancakes, or maybe two and a half, and I'm set. I hear chicken strips and waffles are great together. Haven't tried the combination yet.

Belgian Waffles with strawberries and whipped cream = pure bliss.

I love pancakes too, though. Especially chocolate chip or blueberry. :tgrin:

There are two pancake threads next to each other so i'm posting to break it up.

That being said, I am equally obsessed with all things breakfast. I guess if I have to have a preference here, I prefer to have french toast for morning breakfast and pancakes for night breakfast....or dinner, as some call it.

I like pancakes but I wouldn't eat them for breakfast... Jesus. All I can keep down in the morning is black coffee and road-rage. Otherwise I like thick pancakes with warm honey. Yum.

What is it with you guys and cake for breakfast?

What is it with you guys and cake for breakfast? It's a Yank thing and we mostly view pancakes as a breakfast type edible. But pancakes can be eaten at any ol' time.
That's partially the reason why we have IHOP (International House Of Pancakes) restaurants along with Denny's (and I think JiM's does it too) that serve pancakes, waffles, coffee, and breakfast 24/7/365, to which this makes a lot third shifters, overnight employees, and truck drivers rather happy.

It's also healthier to get your heavy carbs and empty calories in in the morning, since you have all day to work it off.

D'you know, that actually makes sense.
