Looks like the original movies are getting a new Blu-ray release in Australia, with reversible covers:

Pretty weird that they are using the costumes from Turtles III for all 3 movies :tconfuse:

Wow, they actually did an amazing job with the covers!

As an Australian, let me be the first to say that I have no idea what the hell is up with these covers (for the record, I think they're awful).

So it's officially "Turtles In Time" now? It's no longer just what people casually refer to it by because of the game, it's the actual movie subtitle?

That's fine if that's what we're doin'. I just don't wanna start doing it and be the only one, that'd be stupid.

Who's the dipsh*t that thought it was a good idea to use the third movie's costumes for every cover? They're definitely gonna take a financial loss on these because that'll confuse the public. The hand-drawn stuff is interesting but not really a good fit either.

It's Oz, they're too busy razzlin' Drop Bears, they won't notice.

Yeah, I don't really think the great unwashed over here are savvy enough to tell the difference. Then again, my opinion of my fellow man's intelligence is somewhat cynical, to say the least. :tlol:

Someone loves 'outer glow'.

Looks like Umbrella picked up the distribution rights; they mostly release older genre films and world movies, and they cook up weird covers when the mood takes them. I don't care for these covers, but I'll admit that they put more effort into them than whoever did the last round.

One of my collogues knows a designer who works for Umbrella so I'll give him a hard time about these.

Another 'Ozzie' here...sort of...well I was born here anyway.

The Original 1st Movie's Covers were Perfect and the other 2 movies were better than...THESE...Why mess with a classic? Oh that's right it's RETRO now...another flavour of the month...Gotta appeal to the Hipsters :trolleye:

Can I just say I never knew they took so many promo pictures of the TMNT III suits....why of all the suits the TMNT III suits??

To make the General Public go

'Boy those Old Suits sure are goofy looking hey those Michael Bay ones look so much better, let's go see the next one and get the first one with those neat new redesigns oh and we gotta get the NEW Merchandise too...geez those OLD turtles sure were Silly.'

And to make the hipsters go' Whoaaa those suits sure are goofy looking, man that's an Amazeballs dvd design sooooo retro, what are these things again frogs...ah who cares it's vintage gotta have it'

Of course the Sensible TMNT fan would go 'Man those Old Suits are goofy looking THANK GOD the 1990 Movie got them right...hey why didn't they just redesign a cgi version of those...oh right...'

Not sure why they'd use the TMNT III costumes for every cover, but I kinda dig the hand-drawn covers.

I think the first blu-ray releases essentially had the movie posters as the cover if I'm remembering correctly, which is probably the best thing to do in my opinion. On the most recent releases, the posters were shrunk down and crammed into weird round portal things, with crazy loud colours behind them.

The hand-drawned could have been better but using Turtles 3's costumes on each cover would likely turn me away from purchasing them.

Weird.

Using the TMNT3 suits for these releases is nothing new... Though I'll still never understand why they insist on marketing all of these movies with the worst-looking versions. I'm assuming someone Photoshopped up some high-res character art with those designs at one point and they're just the easiest to copy/paste in and call it a day? Beyond that, they look like the work of someone who's just figured out Photoshop and can't stop playing with all the filters and effects.

The drawn/comic-style covers are definitely more interesting... though still a mixed bag. The 1990 cover's Shredder seems to look more like the BayTurtles version (so far as I can make out), though the grayscale Raph is a cute nod to the original comics. The SotO cover looks... pretty awkward. The TMNT3 cover's Samurai Leo looks badass, and makes the movie look a lot more serious and dignified than it actually is. :tlol:

Nothing beats the original movie posters, though. I can't understand why those aren't used more often.

I've refered to it as that for... holy shitballs a drop bear, I gotta go!!!!

I'm super keen for a blu-ray of SotO. If it's any good I'll pick up the other two. Not sure if I can justify replacing all my DVDs. I like SotO, it's bright fun and a very guilty pleasure.

I don't think that'll happen. Anybody who would be in the market for these either already knows or doesn't care.

I had casual buyers in mind rather than the folks actively seeking them. But I guess there's a much smaller amount of those kinda people by now.

I love these covers, but...

Out of all the three movie costumes, they decided to pick the movie 3 costumes?
