I mostly collect OA, and have spent quite a lot of money on it. My collection is getting close to complete, just want to get an E & L page from issue 4 - 7, and a couple more commissions.

The most I've ever spent on a piece of art was $500. Looking at some of the prices of pages it looks like I will be spending thousands to complete my collection.

How much have you spent on an item?

errrr.....$400 for a Sideshow Donnie maybe. I don't think I am over $500 for anything....but I have a lot of OA between $200-400

$1000 for the first print #1. I think the cover to two of the SHotFC issues (http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1081766) I have ran almost $2000. Nothing else I have comes close to those I think, not even the original pages or the pre-lim layouts to issue #1.

I wonder how much the pre-lim of issue 1 would go for now.

There is a lot of art out there that could got for a ton of $$$.

Ahh hell....close to $100 for some DVDs I think?

I spent four figures a few times, including my TMNT #1, if you include trade value.

Depends on the page, for the prelims. When originally sold back in 2003 on Heritage Auctions iirc, the first page went for about $900, and the double page splash immediately after went for about $1200. The rest were in the $150-200 region each. But the question, as you say is, what might even one of the "ordinary" prelims go for now? I know the location of about half of them, and I doubt any of those will be sold any time soon heh.

As for the second point, a page from issue #5 sold on HA for $4200 over the weekend ($5k with BP), so yeah, original pages from the early issues are just going up and up...

I'd rather not think about this...:)

Wow! The price for TMNT movie props and production ephemera has been going up quite a bit, as well. Nothing like the early Mirage art, though. It's interesting watching this market skyrocket like that. I don't really see the bubble popping anytime soon, either.

I probably could have had a decent down payment on a house if I would have waited another ten years to sell my ooze canister props from SOTO.

Well, damn! There are still 8 Raphael #1 pages available on Eastman's site at $4k each (for members). Maybe in the near future they'll seem like a steal. Hard to believe! Still out of my wheel house.

I was watching the auction for the issue #5 page, in case I could get it for a reasonable price, but nope. Amazing when you think that a page from issue #3 sold on HA in 2009 for just under $1000 (and I just missed out on it) and another page from issue #5 sold for $900 in 2008. Even two of the splash pages from #11 sold for under $2k each in 2013.

I'd rather not think about this...:)
I was wondering when you were going to comment in this thread ;)

I know you're probably never going to say how much you've paid for some of your pieces, but if you don't mind, would you say WHICH piece of yours is the one you've paid the most for? :)

The most I've spent on a TMNT "item" was 21,390 posts worth of time at this forum. :tlol:

$300 for a piece of art, I think.

Is that how much early E and L pages are now? My dream is to get a page from issue 4-7, but I think I might have been priced out of the market. It sucks because that page was pretty awesome.

I once bought someone's collection for around $250-ish iirc.

On a single item, gotta be my second NECA 4-pack for $120 back in 2009 I think. Which was a little sour but not as ridiculous as the secondhand prices are now.

It was actually a group of items, but $1000 for approximately 500 cels from the OT back in 2014, of which I sold the majority for a profit and kept about fifty or so (the best ones) for myself, including some of the Asian envelope sheets.
