I figured to make this thread so those who wanna talk about the music don't have to go through all the pages of bickering and nonsense

Its out june 3rd and you can listen to 30 second samples of the songs.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GAKMNKI?ie=UTF8&keywords=teenage%20mutant%20ninja%20turtles&qid=1464471566&ref_=sr_1_5&s=dmusic&sr=1-5-mp3-albums-bar-strip-0

Even by just listing to the 30 second samples this soundtrack is miles better than that generic pile of crap by Brian Tyler. the Song Half Shell is the classic theme instrumental.

Not bad, much better then the music from the last movie.

Feels a bit too much Pirates of the Caribbean-y, though.

If anyone wants to take a listen to the music used in the clips released, PM me.

Feels a bit too much Pirates of the Caribbean-y, though.

Well, Jablonsky did work on Curse of the Black Pearl (essentially anyone employed by RCP at the time did :tlol:).

Yeah, but it makes it less defined as Ninja Turtles and not as individual/themed as I'd like and a bit more on the generic side.

Nowhere close to being as generic as the last movie, though.

So 'squirrel formation' gets it's own music?

I can't be the only one to secretly hope that lame joke would be cut out of the movie. Putting aside how obvious it's recycled from the previous movie of them being stuck in the sewer pipe but here it's even more ridiculous.

wow...now that was a good listen - TURTLE POWER, and HALF SHELL were personal favorites, with JUMP being a contender as well.

A lot of ppl have tried updating the original FW theme (I've heard everything from pure acapella to rock ballads), and I gotta say, I absolutely love what Steve Jablonsky has done with the melody.

I rarely buy soundtracks, but this might be the exception.

The joke is in the movie but the score plays over the entire sequence with that joke just being a small part of it

Much MUCH better than that dreadful **** score by Tyler. My favorite so far is the Krang track

I don't find it nearly as exciting or memorable as the Tyler score, but I'll still get it.

Anyone know if this includes the song that played at the beginning of the end credits or if that is available anywhere yet?

The Shredder theme is very reminiscent of the 1990 one.

I found the score to be just as generic & forgettable as the last one, save maybe the Shredder theme. But even that I've forgotten entirely, I just remember thinking it was decent at the time. :trazz: The soundtrack was also snooze-fest, albeit fairly innocuous.

It's unbelievable. I mean, composers rip off of other composers off all the time -sometimes on (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AE2j5ipzEEo) an audacious level (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgRVJksQocM) - but Jablonsky and Junkie XL essentially work together. They're both associates of Hans Zimmer at Remote Control Productions.

One person who knows the RCP gang well claims that a temp track had to do with it. Before a film is scored, often they'll grab existing music to get a feel for what type of music should be in the final product. I've heard of stuff from the temp track being retained for final use in a film, but I've never heard of the director going, "So, uh, just copy that exactly".

Dave Green and Michael Bay demand only the lowest level of creativity possible from their cast and crew.

I played them both at the same time since I kinda had a feeling what was going to happen but...holy hell, that is just a BLATANT rip off.

Wow.

I noticed that to, but at least that cover of the TMNT theme was in there, that's more important.

But its strange not hearing it after that TMNT theme cover.

Then again, this usually happens, when they release a soundtrack, they often release tracks that weren't used in the movies.

It's the most popular track on iTunes.

TheSkeletonMan939

Because it's the only track on the OST with words.

Kids don't care about film scores.

How did the movie get the rights for the original 80's theme song? Even 4kids couldn't get the rights for the 80's theme song when they did Turtles Forever.

Lionsgate cut Paramount a deal?

TheSkeletonMan939

Paramount has money. 4Kids did not.

True, which is why 4Kids only had non union voice actors on that show, which is why Turtles Forever did not had the original voices of the 80s Turtles.

Half Shell is just Jablonsky orchestrating the 80s theme. Nothing to do with the vocal cover from the movie.

I bet during editing, they decided to use the vocal cover, instead of Steve Jablonsky cause it was closer to the original.

I guess the original plan was to use Steve Jablonsky's Half Shell during the End Credits sequence, but half way through post production, they had HomeTown record a version of the old theme.

Paramount probably got the rights of the original theme from Lionsgate, paid them some royalty, and then hired the band Hometown to work on it.

It would've been nice to have, because this score feels EXACTLY like a Transformers movie. Every minute of it. I can't wrap my head around the idea that this is less "generic."

EDIT: Can somebody ID the hip hop song that played in the liar? I meant to look for it in the credits, but forgot.
