& by drink I mean alcohol.

I'm a vodka guy. I don't drink much, but when I do, it's Sprite/vodka/lemon (or lime). I enjoy malt liquor once in a while too, like Old English or Colt 45. Never cared for brown liquor, I always stuck with the clear stuff. But I've more or less lost my taste for gin & rum, so vodka it is. Way easier to mask it's taste than that of others, I find.

Enjoying some of the preferred beverage right now, it was my inspiration for this thread. :tlol:

Beer. It's cheap and has a lot of variety. I love me some good Belgian and German beer. Plus, it usually isn't very strong, so it's easy to drink.

Not very acquainted with other alcoholic beverages. Tried a few wines before and haven't been a fan for the most part sans a couple. Vodka is just gross and my worst hangover experience ever was with it, so I'm never touching that again . Tried whiskey some years ago at a party. It wasn't so bad, but not exactly great either.

I'm a thin guy and I don't drink that much, so my tolerance for alcohol isn't very high. I better not drink heavier stuff than beer.

Rum. It's the pirate in me.

I'll try anything, but it's usually rum or Irish Cream coffee.

I rarely drink and those rare times it's usually just a Mike's Hard something or other or similar. And tend to prefer vodka based drinks. Tequila based was...okay.

Beyond that, I love Applebee’s White Peach Sangria. But that's also very rarely had.

Wild Turkey 101, normally. Jack Daniels if they don't have it. Or Jameson if I have some extra money or want Irish whiskey.

Vodka makes me way too insane, can't drink it anymore.

Got a Budweiser & Clamato Chelada chilling in the fridge.
I'm also a fan of Guinness and some of the Shiner seasonal brews.
Regular Samuel Adams is alright, but I really like their Oktoberfest brew.

For the harder drinks ...Long Island Ice Tea.

Irish cream and some kind of wine cooler, preferably in a strawberry-type flavor. I tried strawberry schnapps recently and liked that - even more after ice brought down some of the punch.

My mother had convinced me to try something called a Moscow Mule (4 oz Ginger beer, 1 1/2 oz Vodka, 1/6 oz Lime juice, with mint sprigs), but I wasn't a big fan.

I haven't gotten drunk yet, and I don't plan to any time soon. I'm a slow drinker anyway. It took me several hours to finish one glass of strawberry schnapps. My brother once remarked that I'd be a very clumsy drunk.

Mead? Where do you buy mead?

Casey
06-13-2016, 06:19 AM
Used to be rye, but now I'm obsessed with mezcal. However, mezcal is hard to find where I live, so I generally stick to tequila. How about this: rye for cocktails, tequila for sipping (and of course shooting). If I can get ahold of some mezcal then I typically savor it and try and make it last.

I buy it at the local Wine Monopoly, that's the usual place in Norway where you can buy bewerages above 4,5% alcohol.

Wine Monopoly is one of the best names for a liquor store I've ever heard.

We've got one called Liquor Barons, which is kind'a funny, and there was a short lived chain back in the 90s called Booze Bandits. I think the name may have ultimately alienated their clientele.

Candy Kappa

It really depends on the brand, but its mostly wine-like.

I had a really good one when I was visiting Whitby in England which was more like a brandy.

I realise I've never addressed the subject so I'll answer it now

When given the choice I usually go with fruity stuff but I don't mind most alcoholic drinks in general, because if I'm drinking anything alcoholic obviously my intent is to get drunk so I won't care about the taste as much.

Margaritas are a personal favourite, though at home wine or beer is the usually-available option. My dad's staff at a motel and when guests leave their alcohol behind, he gets to bring it home, so we tend to have beer around more than anything else, I pretty much always have something to get drunk on if I ever want to. Every once in a while I do those online drinking game things when we have entirely too much beer in the house.

I also really love piña coladas and getting caught in the rain ok im sorry i had to

Hmm where to start? I don't drink often, but when I do- sorry if I sound a bit like a Dos Eches commercial- I tend to either drink fruity drinks or straight wine. Usually vodka, rum, kalua, or tequila-based. I like screwdrivers, daqueris, and mudslides in particular. And pina coladas of course. I also like a bottle of Manschwitz blackberry wine on occasion. Malibu and Dr Pepper, or eggnog heavy on the nog. And Chili's has some killer fruit-infused Margaritas! Only things I won't touch is congiac(sp?) and most beer except Guinness or a few flavors of Sam Adams. Mead is okay. Gotta be honey mead though. Got hammered on screwdrivers on my 21st bday, to the point that I went through almost an ebtire bottle of McCormicks by myself!

Uh...Margheritas on a technicality?

Rum and coke is another one I enjoy. Can't do rum on its own, but I love it as a mixer.

I will always treasure the opportunity I had shortly after I turned 21, when I opened the cabinet in hopes of getting a rum and coke, only to find there wasn't any rum. And I knew right in that moment, it was time. To my family in the living room, I exclaimed, "Why is the rum gone?!"
I've never been more proud to quote a movie than in that moment.

I -almost- didn't get my first drink simply because I was an idiot for not bringing my ID. Thankfully my folks were with me, and they vouched for me as we celebrated my 21st birthday at the Outback Steakhouse restaurant.

I didn't have much of a tolerance back then, and I fell asleep under our Christmas tree after we came home. Needless to say, my father found that amusing - I woke up just to find him snickering at me in our living room.

Southern Comfort or hard cider on the rare occasion that I crave something alcoholic.

Otherwise it's Virgil's draft root beer or cream soda.

I tend to drink beer most often, but I far prefer liquor. Cuba Libres are my favorite (that's a rum and coke with lime, to those who don't know) but sometimes I'll go for rum and pineapple juice if I need my Vitamin C for the day. And when I feel like getting really sh!tty I'll get drunk on White Russians. Alcohol and dairy is an awfully unhealthy combo, but what can I say? The dude abides

What kind of rum do you use in those? I met these Dominicans while working in Long Island, and became fast friends with my tiny Spanish vocabulary. They got me hooked on Brugal. Good stuff.
