The best Shredder figure ever made...if it only was 1/12...

so much better than that other ugly ass shredder gokin figure.

Dammit Dream EX I wish Playmates would let you make these in 7 inch form.

So looks like Dream Ex will be the first to have real characters other than the turtles. Only hope for a 1/12 collection is Bandai. This Shredder is amazing and Casey is great too. If the turtles look good I'll jump on. If Bandai reveals more characters that will be a tough choice because even though we would obviously love a Bandai 1/12 collection like they have with Dragon Ball or Star Wars, for $60 is a pop if these realistic 1/6 are priced close to $100 then we have real competition going.

I dont share the opinion on this that everyone else seems to have...

The face sculpt seems off to me, and whats with the Arsenio hall stripes on the side of his head?

The side of the helmet seems off as texture or glossy-ness or something, and the loincloth seems too short and wide.

The cape is shredded? Is that supposed to be a pun?

1/6th scale too- so its gonna fit with MONDO scale?

The ooze is purple?
Communicator? NAILED IT

Overall it seems like this thing couldnt decide if it wanted to be the 91 movie shredder or the OT shredder...

Sadly I will still prob buy it cause its the best one to date...

Went back and popped ep 1 in...you are right- glowing purple. The movie was green.

I still think the rest are valid...

As gorgeous as this Shredder and the DreamEx Casey are, I know I'll sadly have to pass. With all these larger scale figures and their steep prices I'm getting to the point where I probably won't be buying stuff for my collection anymore unless it's vintage. I cant afford these kind of figures which really bums me out.

Its all Playmates's fault. they are stingy with the Turtles license and that's why any GOOD turtle figures will be these expensive 6 scale stuff or Con exclusive NECA stuff. I feel your pain. Playmates doesn't want us to have good 7 inch figures

It's complete bull and I've stopped collecting anything new by them. The exception is my 12 inch. Bebop from the new movie but that was bought with a gift card and to repaint for fun. Playmates can go to hell for all I care. Cancelling their Classic Shredder and Krang was a big part of that decision but after the new Neca announcement I made the final decision for not supporting playmates all together anymore.

As I said elsewhere...

Holy crap. I really wish it was 6" scale... but I am awful tempted to get him as a centerpiece of my TMNT collection. Wasn't super thrilled by the Casey Jones as he wasn't a big part of the original toon... but wow. All they have to do is announce Bebop and Rocksteady in this line and I give in. Shredder flanked by the Gruesome Twosome in this scale would be a thing of pure beauty.

I'm not a fan. The helmet looks bulky, and I prefer a smooth and polished chrome look as opposed to the textured look. That, and there are unnecessary seams on his clothing.

At some point, we'll get something better. There is no dearth of awesome TMNT stuff coming out right now.

Detail will always be added when you take a flat 2-Dimensional cartoon character and have to make a 3-Dimensional realistic product out of them. That's why you have metal that looks like metal rather than flat silver plastic. It's certainly less jarring than the First Gokin Shredder.

Personally, I'm really happy to see more 1/6th scale product.
I get the desire for the smaller stuff for people with huge collections, etc, but you just can't get the detail in.

I wouldn't mind having a shelf of 1/6 scale TMNT stuff. Dream Ex Casey and Shredder look great. But this leaves me with a big question of what 1/6 scale turtles I'd like to go with them, if any.

I don't want the Bay design 1/6 scale ThreeZero turtles because I don't want to drop that much money on those designs.

I don't want the Mondo 1/6 scale Mirage turtles because I have the NECA Mirage versions and they are perfect. No need to re-buy something that I love.

I don't want the Eastman concept design Three Zero turtles because I don't like the designs.

I've seen a preview pic of the Dream Ex turtles and from what I've seen, they are meh. But I guess they are the best candidates for the job so far. Maybe pics of actual product will change my mind. Or perhaps maybe this will just be a turtle-free shelf.

It's a problem. My other grail is Neca's Mirage Turtles, but scaled to Palladium heights, with more detail, in 1/6th.

Anyways, back to Dream Ex, hopefully they will have painted prototypes of their turtles at SDCC. I like that they went with Casey and Shredder first. SO many lines and different figures now ALL putting out the 4 turtles and then stopping.
This is definitely refreshing.

Scale wise yes. Thematically, not really. The mondo turtles are very mirage and this Shredder is very much an OT representation. Mondo will more than likely show their Casey and Shredder at SDCC though.

When is the announcement from Neca at SDCC expected?

What announcement? NECA is supposed to show all 4 of their 1/4 scale 90's movie turtles in addition to having their 6" retro arcade turtles and villains sets available. They always have surprises at SDCC but I doubt there will be any TMNT related announcements. I reserve the right to be wrong about that.

A lot of folks are hoping that SH Figuarts will be there and hoping they will show and announce a 6" Shredder figure in addition to hoping Mondo will be showing off the next figures in their 1/6 scale line.

And hopefully, Dream Ex will be there to show of this wonderful new product!

I'm the minority no doubt but I'm not feeling this Shredder. I went with the First Gokin Saki instead. I don't care for the armor on this guy. I'd much rather have a cartoon accurate Shredder than something close like this. Certain parts just ruin this figure in my opinion.

I will say that it's nice as a fan to have a selection other than one or two companies though!

Unless you buy a cell from the cartoon you are never going to get a 100% cartoon accurate Shredder. When you turn something that's a 2-D animated character into a 3-D physical objects there is going to have to be adjustments made to it to make it look realistic and accurate as a physical object. Making metal look like metal rather than plastic for example. Or giving cloth actually stitching that would exist in reality. It's a realistic figure based on a cartoon character.

It's certainly more cartoon accurate than the First Gokin Shredder which you decided to go with.

Yeah, it's totally possible to do it, that's a nonsense post. Making it realistic is gonna require deviations, naturally, but nobody's asking for a realistic portrayal. They want a screen accurate one, two very different things.

Making metal look like metal rather than plastic for example. Or giving cloth actually stitching that would exist in reality. It's a realistic figure based on a cartoon character.

It's certainly more cartoon accurate than the First Gokin Shredder which you decided to go with.

I think you completely missed my point but that's fine. Last I heard, metal can be smooth lol
I also meant that I went with the First Gokin Saki because I liked it better overall, not because it was Toon accurate (clearly it isn't). I'd rather have a character be completely different looking than close to movie/cartoon/comic accurate. It bothers me how a few minor tweaks could provide us with accurate screen or comic characters yet companies continue to add in their own little twist. Perhaps it's licensing? Then again the Nick line shouldn't have been a problem and most of those figures aren't screen accurate. Let's hope SH Figuarts blows our minds with an 87 Shredder.

BBTS just listed these for preorder. Shredder $220, Casey $199

$220 can buy a lot of stuff or one Shredder statue. How do I decide?

My advice is to wait a week and half until everything has been announced and revealed from SD Comic Con. Then you can make an educated decision! That's what I'm doing anyways.

I'm hoping SH Figuarts will have a Shredder to show, which will instantly make me feel better for passing on Dream Ex Shredder ;)

Yeah, SDCC will surely reveal an insane amount of wonderfully tempting stuff.

I often wonder how often this stuff sells. The TMNT fanbase used to never get these high end collectable statues until like the last 5ish years besides those Playmates ones from the early 2000's.

Do these actually sell? I can't imagine there being so many hardcore fans outside the casuals who will spent $200 a pop on statues.

Ask Sideshow. There's certainly a market.

Depends, I think there will certainly be cheaper options. There's no rush in pre-ordering. This is a licensed product after all so it's more about finding distributors. Usually 1:6 scale sells better with movie licenses instead of anime, cartoon or comic book versions. The TMNT TV show line will probably sell not as crazy as let's say Ironmen but for a posable collectible this doesn't look too bad. I don't think you will find a Shredder statue this size or larger selling for $220 or less.

The figure does look pretty cool. It's more about if you have the money to spend on this kind of hobby. Don't forget there's the resale value of things. This one probably won't end up having high after market price but it's more a niche thing that will hold it's value.

Premium Collectables has both for a total of about $305 + 61 shipping USD prepaid from Australia.
If you find something else to bring the total to $350 USD, shipping is free. I spent about $383 shipped for both plus a $76 "One:12 Collective" figure.
It is the first time I have bought from them. It took a while to find something that is in stock.

Grungethemovie made that badass custom Classic Shredder and that was spot on. If we could get something like that I'd be satisfied.

Speaking of grunge has anyone heard from him? He had some great looking customs of krang, Bebop, and Rocksteady but he never posted them here or on figure realm. Is he on the fwoosh?

He's on instagram. He posted a bunch of Bane wip pics last night. He never finished the Bebop, Rocksteady, Krang and Splinter though.

Hi all. I preordered the Dream Ex Shredder and Casey from Lunar. I've emailed them several times with no response. I'm just trying to figure out when the figures are going to be released. I'm a little worried that they aren't getting back to me. Has anyone else had any problems with them? Thanks for any help.

Haven't ordered from those guys yet. But both figures haven't been released so far. Did you put down any deposit?
I'm guessing you will seeing one of the figures by Nov. Shouldn't take that long. They recently has the 4 Turtles painted prototypes and Shredder and Casey on display at a Comic Con is Gwong Chou, China. There wasn't any packaging display yet so I'm guessing it's not close to final stage of manufacturing.
