View Full Version : Do you believe in any conspiracy theories?

I'm pretty interested in what the forum thinks in relation to CTs. The only one I believe is that aliens have visited earth in the past.

I have a hard time believing we got to the moon in the 60s but not enough to doubt it.

What about you guys?

Not really a conspiracy theory, but its obvious there's some form of alien life out there given the sheer mass of the universe. Thinking Earth is the only planet with life is some weird Christian Jesus mumbo jumbo about how we're "special" when in reality we're basically a spec of dust in the vast cosmos of the universe.

I really don't think human beings are capable of being as organized as we'd have to be for a great bulk of the conspiracy theories out there to be credible.

I'm not saying its aliens, but aliens.

Nah. Can't say there are any I buy into. My mom somewhat shares your alien one though.

Sure, I believe some things that may be classed as conspiracy theories. Most of what I think is really vague, though, like "we can't be alone because the universe is too damn big and thinking we are alone is pretty self-absorbed" but I wouldn't be surprised if they've visited us and governments haven't disclosed the information and whatnot.

I've got some moderately strong feelings about paranormal things too, but idk if that falls under the same category. Kinda related, though.

It's fairly credible... especially since not one but two astronauts have been rather open about being briefed about them and have seen them.

Interesting theories out there that aliens quietly stopped the Cold War from becoming World War III.

Very much agreed. 9/11 is way too complicated and has too many factors that could've gone wrong for it to be an inside job.

The government isn't all powerful, it's all incompetant.

No, I don't. They usually come up when a few people don't like the truth regarding something and think it's too boring and there must be something more interesting behind it. Well no, sometimes the truth is actually quite boring or simple.

That's exactly how I feel about that particular conspiracy theory. That one can really get some people mad, too.

I like to think time travel is possible, not sure if that counts as a conspiracy theory. I have no idea if people have already done it and traveled back in time to change the past, but its theoretically possible.

Theoretically it is impossible to travel backwards in time. Theoretically it is possible to travel to the future.

I need more evidence though.

I would argue that it is possible to travel backwards, but once you're there you've created a new timeline. So you just can't change history if you do go back.

actually...

Time travel to the past may not be possible (http://futurism.com/new-form-of-atomic-nuclei-just-confirmed-and-it-suggests-time-travel-is-impossible/)

Small caveat: This is one of those websites where the headline over-extends itself...

Well, I mean, if you combine it with the Berenste/ain Bears multi-universe mini-conspiracy thing, one could totally believe in backwards timetravel working similarly.

I think that's how it worked in Dragonball Z, right? omg I've rewatched this show so many times but I'm forgetting... my details... rip

Everyone is time traveling to the future at the rate of one second per second.

Unless you are moving at relativistic speeds.

Conspiracy theorists give conspiracy theories a bad rap. People just associate them with the crazies and any good conspiracy theory is usually ruined or made overly complicated to the point that only they can take it seriously.

What about the cycle of rebirth, and that we've all lived our lives the same way millions of times?

For example the universe forms and then implodes after eons of years, and then it combines back together and explodes again...but everyone and everything from planets, stars, to people are reborn the exact same way each time. They say the universe is expanding but after eons it all goes back into itself to the central mass that created the big bang in the first place. So the big bang happens over and over.

We could be living our lives for the billionth time for all we know.

The Universe has been expanding and then retracting for eons (literally the end of time). So therefore each time there's a big bang for all we know everything is made the same each time. Same planets/stars, same life forms, etc.

It is expanding, there is no evidence "for all we know each time it's the same thing".

The universe expands and retracts like a rubber band. The theory is after the big bang the universe expands for millenia, then it all retracts back to the same one ball of mass it started as. Then it explodes again...and so on and so forth.

For all we know the big bang has happened endlessly over the course of time.

lmao I googled real quick to see if I can find a summary of Time Cube. Its wikipedia article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Cube) does okay:
claims that all current sciences are part of a worldwide conspiracy to teach people lies; the theory's ultimate truth (and what the conspirators are said to be covering up) is that each day actually consists of four days

RationalWiki's article made me laugh pretty hard (http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Time_Cube)

I like you much more when you say sensible things like this.

@cubed - you don't seem to understand the expansion theory. It's not just expanding, but picking up speed. The Big Crunch is now impossible, instead, it's more likely a big Freeze.

Nope.
Conspiracies, at least as envisioned by various madmen, won't work simply due to "human factor".

And everything else, like "reptiloids", "aliens" and stuff is pure ********.
