I was watching 'New Friend, Old Enemy' just now on Nicktoons and I noticed something. At the part before the intro when Shredder tells Bradford to team up with Xever and go take out 'Hamato Yoshi' and his ninjas, Bradford says "We will take down Splinter and his ninjas." This scene was the first time he heard about Splinter being alive and he already knows his mutant name either though Shredder only referred to him as Hamato Yoshi. How did he know? Perhaps Splinter was a nickname for him back before Shredder became the Shredder? its really strange. Maybe they'll touch up on his nickname one day in the series but what do you guys think?

Splinter was likely a nickname Yoshi used when he was at war alongside Saki in Vietnam or wherever.

Only in the original cartoon did the Turtles "nickname" Yoshi as Splinter. In this version he already had that nickname prior to mutation.

I don't think they were in Vietnam as that was in the 1960's. And events with this series begin around 1996, It's more likely that photo was of Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki being a part of the Japanese Self Defence Force.

I think maybe Shredder may have mentioned Splinter's nickname before and perhaps Bradford heard of it and that's why he referenced it.

Or it was a mistake on the writers' part. That would be my assumption anyway...
