View Full Version : Favorite Variants

For all lines, old & new, not counting changes based on updated programming (like Fast Forward, film 3, OOTS, etc.). Mine are in no particular order. Maybe you love the sculpts or concepts, maybe you're just nostalgic about certain figures, but surely you've got some favorite variants.

Original Playmates wave:

(Personal standouts)
-Punker Don
-Rappin' Mike
-Breakfightin' Raphael
-Slice 'N Dice Shredder
-Don The Undercover Turtle
-Lieutenant Leo
-Raph, the Green Teen Beret
-Sewer-cyclin' Raph
-Beachcombin' Mike
-Bandito-Bashin Mike
-Private Porknose Bebop
-Robotic Bebop & Rocksteady
-Leo as The Wolfman
-Cave Turtle Mike
-Warrior Bebop & Gatekeeper Rocksteady
-Robotic Foot Soldier
-Mutatin' Foot Soldier
-Warrior Meatalhead Michaelangelo
-Warrior Winged Leonardo

(Full Sets)
-Storage Shell Turtles
-Head-Droppin' Turtles
-Toon Turtles
-Shogun Turtles
-Turtle Trolls
-Cyber Samurai
-Ninja Action
-Tyranno Shredder
-Super Mutants
-Metal Mutants
-Ninja Shooters
-Jim Lee Turtles
-Muta Force Turtles
-Mutant Masters
-Turtleflage Don

Boy, I like a lot more variants than I thought. :tlol: There were a lot of good ones back then, damn.

-Toddler Turtles
-Turtle Titan Mike (though the articulation is pretty much non-existent, the likeness is great)
-Ninja Nights

Not much there of interest for me personally. They were all pretty bland.

I've never owned any of the current turtle variants due to the lacking paint & typically awful faces. But I appreciate some of the sculpts nonetheless, so I'm listing a few for the hell of it.

-Shredder 2
-Ooze Throwing Raph ('cause he looks like a Ghostbuster)
-Mazes & Mutants Turtles
-Vision Quest Turtles
-Vac Metal Fugitoid
-Casey included with Casey's Slamboni
-Leonardo included with Ninja AT-3

If the Speed Demon T-Machine counts, that's up there too (though only once re-painted).

How about y'all?

Awesome idea for a thread. I'll have to come back to it after breakfast. Hey, I'm in Shanghai!!

For now, the set that I really really like owning is the Star Trek set. It just works in almost every level.
Close second is the Warriors of the Lost Sewer set. Amazing sculpts.

I'll do s list when I get home. It'll give me an excuse to raid through my boxed up turtles.

They come high on my list as well, very high.
I'm a huge Universal Monsters movie fan. The coffin box set is my most frequently opened bluray set. So that and my actually most opened set , first season Star Trek: yeah, playmates certainly played out to my personal favorites.

These guys are so cool. The bases are a class act, and the phasers and communicators are awesome. And the irony of Captain Leo, wearing a rug!!

Then of course the two series of Universal Mosters. These figures have so so so much derailing in them. They are quite amazing.

Highlight for me is Dracula. Costume, extras and the wearable medallion ! Uber cool.

Then there is season 2:

I love the April as Bride of Frankenstein !! It was a brave move to include a female monster.
