Charmian Carr, who played Liesl Von Trapp, in The Sound of Music passed away last night at age 73 due to a rare form of dementia. My heart is aching over this. She was such a beautiful woman and extremely talented. I remember when I did The Sound of Music tour in Salzburg, the bus had a video of her sharing so many behind-the-scenes secrets from the film.

This is so sad. She was so awesome in that movie. My sister has two of her books and was even featured in her book Letters to Liesl. She will be missed.

Here is that iconic scene from the movie that she is most well-known for. She actually crashed through a window of the gazebo during filming and hurt her leg. In the original theatrical release and VHS, there was a bandage on her leg, but it was digitally removed in later editions. The video on Youtube is courtesy Rogers and Hammerstein Organization.
