What a talent. The man worked on well over 100 episodes of the Fred Wolf TMNT cartoon, including fan-favorites like Escape from the Planet of the Turtleoids, Night Of The Rogues, Case Of The Killer Pizzas, & Invasion Of The Punk Frogs, to name a few. You can view his full credits on IMDB- http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0578859/

His work will live on forever, & we'll honor him by continuing to enjoy these beloved stories from our childhood. May you rest in peace, Jack! :tcry:

2017 just doesn't stop. Very sad to see him go, looking at how many other cartoons and TV shows he worked on outside of TMNT too.

The man lived to be 90, most of us would be lucky to make it that long.

Wow ..Jack Mendelsohn wrote a lot of my fave FW episodes, and even wrote for The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin. That was one of my favorite shows when I was, Oh God ..four years old.

Thanks for sharing this article Powder - it seemed that Jack truly loved what he did.

I'm very sorry to hear that about Jack Mendelsohn. As I understood, he and his wife worked very closely on script editing during the mid-years of the TMNT cartoon. Thanks for the heads up, Powder.

Rest easy Jack.

Animation writers, hell writers of any sort, are so underlooked by the industry and people that depend upon them.

Yeah, I notice a lot of cartoon and even comic book writers never get the same type of respect as TV directors/writers or movie directors. A bit of a shame.

Very sad to hear this. :( Two of the episodes he wrote Raphael Knocks Em' Dead and Donatello's Degree were two of my favorites. R.I.P.

He made it to a great age.
Talked with him a lot on Facebook, he was a great guy and very proud of his work on TMNT.
An autograph was still in its way to me, but that will never happen now.

May you rest in peace Jack!

Dontallo's Degree is the best Donnie/Irma episode ever:)

I think "White Belt, Black Heart", written by him and Carole Mendelsohn, is his best.

Rip Jack Mendelsohn. I think "White Belt, Black Heart", was his best as well with an honourable mention going to "Shreeka's Revenge". "Adventures in Turtle-Sitting" wasn't that good, but it had the best banter between Shredder and Krang, in my opinion.

He also wrote James Bond Junior. I used to watch that series, it usually aired before TMNT.

I didn't know that. James Bond Jr was one of my favourite cartoons when I was 7 or 8. It aired on Wednesday evenings in Ireland in the early 90s.

It aired weekdays in Sweden over TV 3 during the second half of 1992-first half of 1993. 17.00 AM. 17.30 AM = TMNT (season 3).

I think it aired in Ireland on rte two at around the same time. I believe it was last shown in 1996.

Saw the news earlier this week. Jack Mendelsohn tends to get flak for making the tone of the cartoon lighter after Season 1 (something David Wise tried to rectify in Season 7) but in my opinion his contributions were welcome. He was able to draw on his work from Jackys Diary and incorporate themes or that tone into the 80s FW series. Rest in peace Jack, you will be missed.
