By doing a quick google search:

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/yearly/

I assume this doesn't include foreign films, netflix films, indie films, made for TV movies, and anime and animation, but even then...it's really ridiculous. 600 movies in a single year? The average person probably sees 5-10 of those 600 movies, and usually only the big Hollywood franchises on top of that.

How on earth are all these movies being made? The amount of budget, time, acting, etc. all goes into them...and barely anyone sees them. On top of that nobody has time to see every movie either.

This is crazy. I don't see why they make so many movies or how this is healthy for the industry.

I don't have time to read all those statistics. Could you please quickly summarise it for me in a few sentences?

Just look at the # of movies column in each year. On average 600 or so movies a year.
