You know I just realized I have no idea who the new popular young actors of today are. Whenever I think of big actors in movies now they're all the same old actors from the 80's and 90's still in new movies.

Like for example Samuel L Jackson is in the new King Kong movie, but he's old as hell and has been around forever. In Logan we have Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman, also old actors. We have Tom Cruise in the new Mummy reboot, we had Harrison Ford reprising his role in Star Wars and Blade Runner. Arnold, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Keeanu Reeves, etc. are all still around in new movies. Mark Hammill is still playing Luke and The Joker. Ben Affleck is Batman and he's in his mid 40's. Kevin Conroy still voices Batman.

Even the once young actors from the late 90's like Leonardo Dicaprio are now old as hell. All the actors in the Avenger movies and other Marvels are again....old veteran actors in the industry who have been around forever. Robert Downey Jr. is in his 50's. Will Smith is another one who used to be young in the 90's but now is old as hell.

So who are the new fresh faced young popular actors today? Are there any new breakout stars in Hollywood? The only ones I can think of is the Star Wars actors Daisy Ridley, etc...and maybe Emma Watson from Harry Potter and Beauty and Beast.

Are there any new young breakout actors anymore? Because it seems like every movie is just relying on old actors for nostalgia or for brand recogniztion.

I'm kinda with you on this. I guess those actors from The newer X-Men movies,Twilight, The Hunger Games, or Divergent would fall into that category of new popular actors, I guess.

Scar Jo, J Law, Emma Stone, Blake Lively...

Ryan Gosling, Ryan Reynolds, Jo Go Levitt, Bradley Cooper...

The whole Walking Dead cast is pretty popular.

Ryan Renolds is 40 years old. Jo Go Levit is 36, so he's not that young either.

I mean they sort of fall inbetween, "not that old" but, "not new young actors" either. Chris Evans is also an older actor now too.

Even the actors in the 2009 Star Trek reboot are now "old" which is ironic as they were young when they were originally cast, especially poor Chekov who died in real life at 28.

Chris Pratt.
.

Chris Pratt is 37 years old. He's nearly 40.

I'm not sure if you guys are missing my point here, I'm talking about brand new break out actors who are young and popular today. Not the 35+ year olds who have been around forever.

That's why I said I can't think of many new young actors today, because every actor in popular movies seems to be an older guy who has been around for decades.

Ariel Winter, who you'll recall from me saying I wanna have sex with her.

Zac Efron, who I'd also have sex with.

Channing Tatum who, you guessed it, can get the D.

Ariana Grande. Sex.

Vanessa Hudgens, Demi Lovado, Selena Gomez.

Most of those are singers though, like Arianna Grande and Selena Gomez, etc. Of course there's always new young female singers appearing out of the blue. I know most of them also acted on Disney/Nick teen sitcoms when they were teenagers too, but that's nothing.

I guess it's harder to become a star today when there's just so much movies/tv shows, etc. being made compared to 20-30 years ago.

Well in order to be a popular actor you need to have a ton of movies(and good ones at that) behind your back which takes a lot of time to acquire, in fact when you look at Arnold the dude didn't really get popular until he was in his mid 30s

But most of the popular actors from the 80s and 90s weren't popular until they were... about 35. There really were no "break out" actors or actresses back then. But it always seemed to be the same small crop. Their rise was earned, and gradual.

Arnold Schwarzeneggar was in his 20's when he was cast in Conan, Terminator, and his other 80's movies.

Most breakout movie stars become popular in their 20's, and this continues as they age. What I'm saying now is there seems to be less breakout young stars, and even if they are in a lot of shows/movies over time, they never become overly famous like all the past big icons from the 80's and 90's.

Who is this gens version of Jackie Chan? Or Sylvester Stallone? Or the next Samuel L. Jackson, Eddie Murphy or Will Smith? The next Harrison Ford, etc? It's like there's nobody on the level of all these old stars.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was born in 1947, by the time the year 1980 hit he was already 33 years old so I don't know where you're getting this " he was in his 20's when he mad hit films" crap from. Like Andrew and I said respected actors tend to be a older, being in their mid 30s at the the youngest so the reason why you're not seeing any young popular movie stars is because the idea of a person being a respected actor/actress in their early to late 20s is basically a fantasy.

Arnold's first film was "Hercules in New York" which came out in 1975. But he rocketed to stardom because of Conan the Barbarian and The Terminator.

I'm also not talking about actors being "respected" as in from film critics, but I mean breakout new actors that show lots of promise and well liked by fans. A good example would be the kid cast as Spiderman in the new Marvel movies. People liked him in Civil War and he looks to be a promising new actor.

Actually Hercules in New York was 1969 (although I don't think widely distributed until 1970), not 1975. You're thinking Pumping Iron here? But that was 1977 iirc.

You could put that under spoilers all those pictures. And no, people from teen drama shows on WB, Fox, etc. aren't breakout new stars.

The only one who got big from shows like is Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Wrong again. So did David Boreanas, Mario Lopez, Dean Caine, and many others. Pretty much everyone from Twilight has gone on to star in other movies or on TV, as have several of the Harry Potter cast. Hunger Games seems to have spawned a crop of stars too.

Nope, none of those are bankable stars. Not remotely close to as popular (and commanding as much money) as your Arnolds, or Stallones, or Nicholsons in the 80s or 90s.

She's not a bankable star, not even in her prime. In fact, her last big project was that TV show that was sooo bad, Robin Wil -- eh, I'll leave that one alone. Point is aside from mild cult hits like "The Grudge," she's done squat since Buffy.

Sarah Michelle Gellar did have some big roles in the 90's and early 2000's, most obvious being Cruel Intentions and in Scream. But yeah after that she hadn't done much. Funnily enough she voices April in the 2007 TMNT movie.

Wrong again. So did David Boreanas, Mario Lopez, Dean Caine, and many others. Pretty much everyone from Twilight has gone on to star in other movies or on TV, as have several of the Harry Potter cast. Hunger Games seems to have spawned a crop of stars too.

I'll give you the star of Hunger Games, too bad she played a terrible Mystique in X-men Apocalypse. Weird because I thought she was decent in First Class, but she basically phoned in her role in the next two movies because of the 3-movie contact she signed. Thank god she'll likely be recast if/when they use Mystique in a new X-men movie.

Also what happened to the big comedians or comedic actors in movies?

Some of the huge comedians in movies/TV are now old as hell and were in their prime in the 80's and 90's:

Jerry Seinfeld
Robin Williams
Jim Carrey
Eddie Murphy
Paul Murray
Chris Tucker
Dan Castellaneta

Who are the big comedians nowadays? Even the comedy actors are dying off. Have there been any new breakout ones?
