About the new show

Well im waiting for the new show like everyone else but i have little doubts about it. They say that it will be more like original mirage comics, But 4kids and saturday morning...
For example in comics they use their weapons against enemies. In the original cartoon they didnt well not many times anyway.
So what do you think? Can it be like the mirage comics?

Lets just hope for the best...

I think they're going for a good compromise between the silly, non-violent cartoon and the more serious, dark Mirage comics. I can see the Turtles using they're weapons, but we won't see any blood or serious injuries.

Oh well, at least they'll be back on tv again that's what I'm happy about. But like you guys I do hope at least they'll fight more, and with they're weapons. However in the orig cartoon, they sometiems acted like they were helpless without their weapons, ohhhhhkay! They are ninjas are they not?

Yes, you're right about the weapons thing. "A ninja is a master of himself and his environment!" I'm sure they won't be so helpless in this new cartoon. I can't wait to see it! In case I won't have a VCR at the dorms, I've already asked my mom to tape the show for me. Of course, she thinks I'm insane, but what else is new? ;)

I think mirage comics are the true form of tmnt. But i know that its supposed to be kid's show... But if it gets even near the athmosphere of the first movie i will be happy with it! :wink:

in the old cartoons, the ninja turtles used their weapons only against the machines. if it's against living things, leo or ralph usually disarms the enemies with the enemy or uses their weapon to corner their enemes. mike and don would still use their weapons vs living things (i.e. don would use the bo to trip the 2 stooges etc.). that is from the best of my memories (i could be wrong cause i don't remember the whole series).

i think we did scare away lisardo. is she a ninja turtles fan? of course she is. anyway... i don't recall much of the animated series... its been YEARS since i saw any ninja turtle animated episode. that is why i am looking foward to DLing them with my 56k modem.

You're right, King. Leo and Raph often used their weapons only against machinery. A clever way for the cartoon to avoid bloodshed. ;)

They should of kept the crazy Ninja Gear though that stuff was awesome but when they started using laser blasters and got beaten with something slapstick or ridiculous thats when the action of the show severly droped :(

Y'know, I've heard rumors that certain scenes of the first season were done in Japan. I think that explains why Krang looks "anime-ish" in some of the scenes...I'm not sure, though...

The drawings are very diffrent and the action scenes are more like Japanimation (and also very cool :evilgrin:) Also coloring and pieces of animation were done overseas all the time

I must say, that I liked the TMNT cartoon very much and I', quite curious on the new cartoon.
But fist cartoon was running many years ago and I wish to have all episodes at home, on tape or on my comp. I already have some of them, in rm format, downloaded from ninjaturtles network, but there are any downloads no more. Well, at first we heard it wouldn't be on until January, but now I'm hearing Feb. or even March. They usually don't advertise shows like this until just a couple months before the premier.

Believe me, the moment they put previews up, even just stills, the entire fandom will know.

Well, I'm kinda glad they're getting rid of the old slang. Not that I didn't like the slang, I loved it, but it would "date" the cartoon. They're trying to bring it into the now and they'll probably use today's slang. Not to say they won't ever use "Cowabunga", just not on a regular basis.

Yeah.. it's doesn't bother me much that Mikey isn't yelling Cowabunga, or that Leo isn't decalring "Turtles Die with Honor" every other ep in the new series. Not saying that I don't like that, I just think the slang was more unique for the cartoon Turtles of that era.

Plus, it used to puzzle me to death how a Turtle (Mikey) grew up under the NYC city streets, and had NOT been anywhere near California, would talk like that. Plus I heard the surf on the east coast is flat compared to the Pacific coast. :P

Like everyone else, I'd love to see more action in the cartoon. And I think it'd be cool if they can make it a little darker, but I think they should keep a bit of the old "surfer" lingo, just for nostalgic reasons. I agree with Kali... They shouldn't use it every episode, just once in a great while. :)

But.. I like Raphael as a smart-ass. Or how he at least has a "I think I know it all cause I don't always agree with what Leo or Don sez" attitude. It adds a little more personality to the four. Be kinda boring if they all acted the same way, with similar personlaities and agreements. :wink:

The only thing I hope they don;t do, is animatize the fight scenes. TNM was bad with the funky fight sound effects... and then after seeing a few Digimon anf new TransFormer shows, I notice how they would call out their form of attack. "Double Barrel Blaster!" *ratta*ratta*ratta* "Twin Flamed Air Beam!" *frrreeezzza* *frrreeezzza* "Sonic Blast!" *Rooom* and so on, and so forth. Just as bad as Pokemon critters screaming *pika*pika*pika* while they attack.

Realizes what kiddie anime shows have for kids nowadays... this is supposively better than watching normal martial arts with bloodless fighting scenes using normal weapons? What's wrong with making it like the grown-up style anime (like Akira), but just don't draw in the blood or the highly graphic gor scenes?

I hope the fight scenes are really good. You don't need blood to make them exciting. Just look at the new He-Man toon. I thought the fight scenes were awesome, but there was just a bit too much weapon twirling for my tastes. :razz: Still, the fights were pretty cool, and if the TMNT toon flows like that, I'll be pretty happy.

Yea, there better be some good violence. We don't NEED blood, so I wouldnt miss it too much as long as the fight scened are good. Is animated by the same people who do MIB the Series and Jackie Chan, so not as serious animation, but still good.

New TMNT movie!! Does anyone want to see new voice actors?? Or would you rather have the old ones back from the first TMNT movie? Personally, I'd love it if Robbie Rist, Brian Tochi, and Corey Feldmen came back. I forgot the VA for Raph in the original movie, but I think I liked his voice the best. Bring back the good ol' VAs!!

The voice actors from 1 were great!!!! all except maybe raph, his wan't that great :( anyway Dan Berger still doesn't seem to be conferming any rumours of the movie being live action

Yeah the director of TMNT 1 wante it to be more comic bookish and so thats why, I still think they should of lightened up on the New ork accent it sounded really fake

I liked the first VA for Raph the best, but the second one was okay. I didn't like the third one very much... I don't know why, but his voice didn't sound "Raph-like." I've always wondered why Raph is often the only one with a New York accent... Kinda strange, huh?

I like Raph's first va too. The accent sort of fit him, but I don't know why. Probably cause most New Yorkers think theyre tough, and so does Raph.

Well, if you consider that Raph would be the one more likely to be hanging up on the streets, and is the most "street tough" it just seems like he would have a stronger New York accent than the others. The Turtles probably learned English from Splinter and the TV, which wouldn't give them a distinct accent.

hmmm.. that would make a lot of sence!!! Mikey probebly watches Surfing programs giving him a californian acent, Donattello watches techTV all the time giving him a geeky voice, Leonardo watches only the news so he has a preety straight forward voice and Raph has his street accent

yeah... but still, it doesn't make much sense. When I watch the NYC based tv shows (or like when they were showcasing the NY firefighters) they have that noticable accent. Of course, some were more obvious than others, but it's all stil there.

By the way... I was watching the intro of Law and Order when they were listing the actors, when I saw Josh Pais's name. I was like... now why does that name sound familar? ..when it hit me. That was Raph's actor and voice actor from the first movie. Then hubby goes and sticks in a DVD so I didn't get to see the when, how, why, where of Pais in this show (not like we watch it anyway).

So outta shear curiousuty, I go check up his status again at IMDB, to see that he also was in A Beautiful Mind too! I have that movie, and I didn't realize that. :lol:

I think I heard before that Pais was in Law n Order... cause it has him listed as being in the show since it's devue (like arond 1993). Wow. You can tell I don't watch that show on a regular basis! And that he was also in Scream 3... *lol*

I have to wonder though, if people tease him about his role as Raph from time to time still/ Pais didn't seeme too thrilled about the role from the old magazine articles I read highlighting the first movie.

Thanks to cherubae, we now have a theme song and a teaser video of the new show... Im happy for what i have seen so far if the characters will be like in the mini comic.. also the theme sounded pretty nice...
