Hey guys, Ive never really "re-painted" and toy vehicle before so I was wondering if anyone had any advice on the paint I should use. I have a few things with some pretty bad scuffs and heavy wear so I wanted to reanimate it with a fresh coat of paint. I'm somewhat familiar with model paint but I was hoping there might be a good aerosol paint I could use to give it a good quick coat before any detail work.

Sand it, wash it, hit it with some rust-oleum auto primer and paint it with rust-oleum(base color of your choosing). Mask off anything you don't want painted in your base color. Then you can go over the finer details with testors, citadel, or model masters.

I've repainted many a vehicle (because for some reason I don't want my toys looking like toys), basically a good wash, strip the decals, tediously clean the residue for which there is no easy way (I typically pressure wash the stickers away then use 90% alcohol to wipe away the residue), use a fine grit sandpaper to slightly rough up the surface, to hold paint better, make sure your surface is cleaned again and free of debris, then use a good primer even if your chosen paint says it includes a primer, I typically prime in grey, then a good spray paint, don't get cheap stuff and make sure it says it can bond to plastic. I like Krylon Maxx Cover, though I've used various other types, I repeat make sure it says bonds to plastic and is not an enamel. Then make sure you allow plenty of time to dry thoroughly, or else you end up with fingerprints.

I don't use decals or stickers after a repaint, but if you do, you'll have to find new cheats online, or make your own.
