So I guess that IDW TMNT will be the longest official TMNT comic ever in august then?

And what's with the uniform alt covers for ongoing and Universe? Edit: Tom Whalen month, just checked it out.

I really think IDW is the Renaissance Age for TMNT comics. Consistent quality, drawing from the best ideas and characters of TMNT, weaving it all into a kick-ass ongoing consistent narrative...

Can't wait for this Pantheon two-parter, and I know all of us have been dying to see Karai, Koya, and Bludgeon in Japan. Also, Usagi! :tcool:

Well, technically Fleetway's Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles Adventures ran for 84 issues.

I mean, you could ad qualifiers like "TMHT Adventures was published every fortnight, so it had a higher issue count but didn't last as many years" or "the IDW book is the longest running Teenage Mutant NINJA Turtles title" or "it's the longest running TMNT comic published in the United States".

But once you have to start attaching terms and conditions, it erodes the achievement. Better to just wait until IDW hits 85.

Wow is that thing under the hood the pantheon' s version of the Kraken?

Nah.

Davy Jones really needs to trim his beard, though...

No, only 75 issues. 76-84 is Second Volume without numeration.

Ha ha  seriously, I meant the equivalent of a sea creature from one of the world's mythologies.

The IDW series will eventually be the longest running AND most widely read, the series that comes to mind first for most people when they think of TMNT comics.

Isn't it already? If you count 72 issues with all the specials/minis/universe, it probably has around 130+ issues by now.

Even Archie with all the specials combined with its 72 issue run only broke a little over 100 issues.

IDW combines elements from every version of TMNT, brings in the characters the majority of fans want to see, has good writing, and tries to throw in something for fans of every incarnation, and treats every previous TMNT version with respect, no matter how poorly it was originally handled. I can see it being one of the most successful and longest running TMNT comics out there.

Official being the key word here, I know when you combine it with Universe and all the minis set in the same continuity, it adds up to well over a hundred issue. The original TMNT book is officially 62 issues long but about a third are considered out of canon. The longest official Spider-Man book counts up to 700 but the canon side-series' adds another 600+ issues. Has any other specific TMNT book officially passed 72 issues before?

For me, I want to see it hit #76. Forever War is five parts and the How The Turtles Got Their Weapons is two parts plus the three part Turtles Tales. So 76 issues would be the definite record.

Hey, I'd never noticed that. I'll add a notation to the Fleetway guide on my site. Thanks!

(still means IDW has to get to 76 issues, but you know)

Gah! Floating turtle heads :o !

It took me a moment to realize the dark hair in the middle was the octopus. So...my assumption is that he's also related to Cousin It...

This will all be a moot point in two and a half years anyway when IDW's main ongoing hits #100.

I'm particularly intrigued (considering the fact that we knew about Jagwar and Manmoth well before this point, just weren't sure if they were Pantheon or not) about that octopus creature. He/she/it was teased a good while back with just a fleeting glimpse in a single panel and I've been curious ever since.

The cover reminds me of those classic Spider-Man stories with the Sinister Six, it feels very overwhelming to see the four itsy bitsy Turtles confronted with such a threatening (literal) menagerie of bad guys. Excluding Aka, of course.

Also, isn't there supposed to be a snake in the Pantheon? Because I definitely remember a snake fighting Rat King in one flashback panel of "Casey and April"...

CyberCubed

So I guess Jagwar is literally what his father was in the Archie series, the actual Jagwar spirt, rather than being the son of the Jagwar spirit. So this female Jagwar is the spirit.

They could also use Snake Eyes as he's another Archie character and God. (He was the snake from the garden of eden).
