I am wondering if anyone knows of issues of Tales or other comics that might have hints as to what is going on with the fake Splinter that Don cloned and the Splinter in the Battle Nexus?

Thanks

If Volume 4 ever gets a new issue or continuation, we'll find out. Until then, it's a mystery. No other issue delves into it so far.

I think there might be a clue in the vision in TMNT Vol. 2, #1.

Tales Vol. 2 #35 provides some background mystical stuff for Splinter, explaining why the Rat King appeared when he died and what his destiny after death might be. But how or even if that has anything to do with the Splinter who appeared in the Battle Nexus remains unknown.

So no, no real insights available into that lingering Vol. 4 cliffhanger.

Obviously, we don't know enough to have clarity about the Volume 4 Battle Nexus twist on the "real Splinter," but I hope Laird wouldn't do anything to diminish the significance of Splinter's (or is it Splinter II?) death. I think Spengs was right to rank it among the greatest moments in the entire franchise's history (http://tmntentity.blogspot.com/2009/12/25-greatest-moments-in-tmnt-history.html). "Death" in comics is so meaningless, that when he simply fell over due to natural causes while everybody else was off fighting some stupendous battle, it really meant something. Also, that face (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4VfeiSCDXHo/VLwHzfma0gI/AAAAAAAAPHo/wyQu9cgd5Uc/s1600/10-1.png) when the sad news is received. :tcry:

Yeah, I really hope that wasn't just Laird kowtowing to fans angry about Splinter dying. "No no, that was a FAKE Splinter that died... the real one still lives!" or that sort of thing.

Right, caving to pressure to keep a dead character alive is lame. Keeping Shredder dead though I think shows he doesn't do that sort of thing.

Though with the fact that Donatello said that the Splinter that died wasn't the one that raised them makes it clear that the original Splinter isn't the one that died.

I am curious about the clone Donatello grew.

I really love Peter's writing. Vol 4 is by far my favorite story line

Word. This is one of the main reasons I defend Volume 4 whenever people criticize it.

It definitely has its faults, but it has some GLORIOUS moments as well.

Some pretty crazy stuff, too. Casey having sex with Karai? Say whaaaat?

Was that confirmed or just implied/teased as a possibility?

It was just implied but it probably didn't happen. Casey was drunk and had no memory of anything. Karai just teased him of how he spent the night.

And he was too drunk to remember it which calls his ability to consent into question. I know it's a different time, but today it seems a bit rapey... :/

i really don't believe Karai would have taken advantage of a drunken Casey like that.

my guess is that nothing happened.
(aside from Casey waking up the next morning, hung over, with dried puke in his hair, and a bad case of rot-gut.)

(.....he might have even soiled himself, #1, or #2, .....or BOTH?)

(probably had to throw his skivvies right into the trash?)

Yeah, that seems more likely.

I thought it was made pretty clear that nothing happened and that karai was just giving him a hard time
