View Full Version : Boring villains that don't deserve to be in the stories they inhabit

Have you ever felt like rage-quitting when reading a story or watching a movie because the villains are boring, terrible, or just not all that compelling?

The following characters spring to mind for me:

Majin Buu (Dragon Ball Z)
Venom (Spider-Man 3)
The Penguin (The Batman)
Whiplash and Justin Hammer (Iron Man 2)
Control Freak (Teen Titans)
Hulk (The Ultimates)
The Joker (Suicide Squad)
Dracula (Blade Trinity)
Harry Mudd and Sybok (Star Trek)
Floronic Man (Batman and Harley Quinn)
Tetsuo (Akira)
God (The Bible)
Dr. Doom (Fantastic Four--not always boring, but it depends on who writes him)
Walker (TMNT III)
Magneto (X-Men comics circa the late '90s to early '00s--again, it depends on who writes him)

Justin Hammer was hilarious.

The Irish prick from season 5 of Heroes has to make the cut though. Tiger claw from TMNT, too.

Spider Bytz is a big one. I think Snakeweed could have had a lot of potential.

God (The Bible)

Why would you think God is a villain? I'm asking Out of curiosity.

Because many people here hate him and are unbelievers.

Sending venomous snakes to kill Hebrews that where complaining too much does reward a couple of villain points:lol:

I don't necessarily think He's boring, though. Dude has style.

Some don't see it as a literal interpretation. Salt wasn't always thought of as a seasoning. It was used as a preservative. So some may see it as a metaphor. A tale warning about the risks of looking back to often and becoming stuck in the past. Thinking of what could have been, having regrets, not trusting in the future and having patience. Other similar stories are also in Greek mythology like the story of Orpheus and Eurydice. Hades could be considered the villain in that one.

Nah, God's just a strict parent who doesn't take sh*t. Look at the natural disasters we've been having and that will tell you what God thinks of the world today.

Natural disasters happen because of changing weather patterns, which can be tracked with science, and are in part due to human activity. Not because a man in the sky felt like punishing someone.

The Shredder a lot of the time, really. I wish TMNT could learn to move on from him once in awhile.

In a new series, I would say: Keep him the main villain durig season 1, defeated by the end. Make him return quickly during early-season 2 for another defeat. Then, let it be over for good, No more comeback!

Kind of liked him before the heel turn, I don't even recall how they beat 'em

I remember Pac-Man had something to do with it.

That'll be it. All I remember is "I'm Mary Poppins y'all"
