It seems high school is a litlle diffrent thing here... In Finland everyone has to be in school for 9 years. After that you can go to learn a profession or go to hig school...

Tortures (how about high school)? Lessee... Don is the nerd that no one wants to eat lunch with, and he gets picked on to no end... until he finds some other nerds to talk D&D and computers with. (been there, done that... bleh!)

Raph is the one who starts fights and hasta sit in dentention after school, otherwise missing out on football practice.

Leo is like the preppy, straight A student/teacher's pet that everyone either idolizes or hates.

And Mike, well, he's the student that goofs off in class, pulling pranks on the teacher and making the rest of the class ltao before being stuck to do detention with Raph. :roll:

We don't have detention in my school. Just either get expelled r ISS (In School suspension) I always wanted to go to ISS because you get to stay at the elementary school for the whole day, I haven't been there in years. :o

I used to live in southern Indiana during my elementary school days... and believe it or not, this one school got bomb threats! I remember going out to a nearby church for the rest of the day, until "school time" was over. It was fun for us kids (like recess all day), even though the teachers were all worried for our safety there. Wierd!

We had after/before school detention, which I did get for a week because I was late too many times. (I'm not a morning person, okay!) We also had ISS, regular suspension, and expulsion, but I never got any of those. All my siblings start school again today, so, lucky me, I get more time on the computer. :D

No way, HT! You're school got bomb threats too? That happened to me some years back in sixth grade...maybe seventh. The weird thing is, we also went to the church! We had to stay in the parking lot all day while the bomb squad checked things out. I remember hoping the school would blow up. It didn't. Weird that that could happen two times in two different states.

We didn't get evacuated since it was a hoax, but we had police all over campus that day just in case. By the end of the school day, three students were expelled. Two for creating the fake bomb threat, and one for making a fake bomb and planting it near one of the water fountains. Pah, it was definitely a weird experience...

Eh, we never got bomb threats at our HS, although my brother's middle school gets gang raids all the time. Or so I hear.

I remember doing drills for bomb/gun threats. I remember one teacher had us all under our desks, saying things along the lines of "We aren't dead yet!"

Once a couple of armed high jacker drove into the hospital next to our school and then ran into the fields!!! The funny thing was that I was in 5th grade and so we had Dare class right then and the officer teaching us got the alert in the middle of the class!!! so we were all inside and there were warnings and some people were panicking and a bunch of police cars pulled up.It was actually preety cool since no one got hurt in the end. :P

Yes, I have returned. I have started school (althought it sucks.) I'm pretty sure it was in sixth grade we got a bomb threat. But considering I have the memory of a goldfish, I wouldn't count on it. It was a fake threat, too. Someone from our rival middle school (yes, a rival junior high. That's the kind of kids my school had) made the call and got suspended, or maybe expelled. The ONLY other exciting thing that happened in junior high was when some kid I didn't get along with made a hit list and every one on it got called into the principals office. I was on it. Apparently I stole a marker from him in the first grade and he never got over it. Seriously! There were about 50 other people on it.

Okay, I'm pretty sure that I'm back to the forums. I've been doing a lot of other stuff and haven't had too much time. But I'm back I think.

I'm currently considering switching majors (heh... that's probably going to happen), but I'm still uncertain as to what I want to do with my life. You'll find your niche eventually. My school is just plain weird. They pretend like they're going to let you pick your classes, but you actually only get to pick one. You can take two if you want to go to zero period. But it starts at seven a.m. I'm sorry, but I'm not ready to go learn things at seven a.m. I'm taking spanish this year cuz I need three years of a foreign language to graduate. I have a feeling I'm not going to do so well though...my spanish teacher doesn't speak english inside the classroom. So far, I've learned his name. The day they decide to hire teachers that actually teach us something, is the day hell freezes over and is turned into my own personal ice skating rink.

My Spanish teacher in Jr. High taught in the same manner!! I really hate it when language teachers refuse to teach in English. How the hell was I supposed to figure out what she was saying when I only started taking Spanish? Luckily, our complaining about her poor teaching style got her fired the next year. She was replaced with a much better teacher, who spoke both Spanish and English while she was teaching. My high school Spanish teachers were much better, though. I can actually remember a good deal of what I learned. Es muy increible, no? :razz:

I didn't take spanish in eigth grade, but the people who did hated the teacher so much and gave him such a hard time, they made him cry and he quit in the middle of the year. I felt bad for him, but I laughed myself silly. Teaching Spanish in Spanish doesn't seem to be a very effective teaching method.

I am in awe you remember some of your Spanish. This is the third year I've taken it, and I only know the names of the colors. I learn things for tests, and then forget them afterwards. It drives my teachers crazy. You should see some of the looks they give me when I don't remember something thart was on a test the day before.

I only took two years of Spanish because it was required. I remember very little about it. I think I remember more Latin from English class than I do Spanish.

Our teacher would have like, one day every so often where he (and we) could only speak in Spanish. But most of the time it was English and Spanish. Though I heard that when you got to your third year you had to speak Spanish pretty much all the time.

I took two years of spanish in jr. high. This is my third year, and even when I'm done with three more years, if I have to speak spanish everyday...I'm screwed.

The reason why I still remember a lot of my Spanish was because I practiced it every now and then (outside of the class). I'd go to a Spanish restaurant and order in Spanish, or I'd talk to some of my Mexican friends in Spanish. I like learning different languages, but my Spanish has been getting rusty as of late. Someday I hope to travel to Europe and visit Spain... Don't give up, SW! You'll survive. If you ever need any help, we have a few posters here who are fluent in Spanish.

And to make matters worse, this class is totally required for my major, and apparently you can't test out of it, so I'm stuck here. Bleh. :dead:

Ack!! I know just how you feel Kameko!! In 5th grade we had a class even worse then that!! The teacher was doing everything so slow, and truthfuly I knew more then him. Eventually he got mad at me and challenged me to figure out how to install and us the zip drive without instructions (oh horror of horrors!! :roll: ) when I did it he just kind of sulked, they cancled that class next year though.

Kameko, I took that class!!!! Not in Texas, though. Here in California they called it "Computer Applications." I got to test out of it though! :) Unfortunately, it was either take a summer school class of it, or take it for a whole semester! I took it just this summer and spent the first couple weeks catching up on some sleep they had deprived me of and got out of it after that. I think the teacher got up all the way up to explaining what an icon was before I decided I'd rather sleep at home.

Hmm... It's only fair that they teach classes like that. Most of us are lucky that we get computers at such a young age. Some people can't afford them, and some people rarely use them.

Ah... Sleeping in class. Now there's something I'm guilty of. I ended up sleeping through most of my physics lectures, but that wasn't on purpose. It was at three in the afternoon, and I'm usually dead tired at that time of day. Good thing the Prof. taught out of the book... :anime:

Teachers that teach out of the book. Now there's a concept I've always supported. But of course, since I approve of it, my teachers don't. They also give really important lectures when I'm the most sleep deprived and can't keep my eyes open, or when I'm in such a bad mood I can't concentrate and lose my patience.
