While I wanted to suggest this in the recently-locked thread, I guess I'll start a new thread on it.

OK, this isn't going to just be about mods, but I also have a few suggestions for when and if the forums are ever upgraded.

How about when this is upgraded to a phpBB 2.2-powered forum we promote all of the current mods (or at least all of the current VETERAN mods) to super-mods, assuming phpBB will come with that kind of function.

Don't know what a super-moderator is? Let me explain:

A super-moderator is a member who looks after the whole of the forums in general. Their job is basically the same as the moderators, except they moderate in all forums. They have all the options of moderators plus executive powers, meaning that if a user persistently breaks the rules they can modify his/her profile and/or ban the user from an individual forum or all forums completely.

Doesn't that sound like it would save Krang and Shredder a lot of trouble considering how busy they are? The only thing that would make a super-mod less than an administrator is that they can't hire and fire new mods/super-mods. That will be left solely up to Krang and Shredder.

OK, so we have super mods out of the way, but about regular mods? Well, since the super-mods would moderate every forum, there should also be to tag along with them about 1 or 2 regular mods to a specific forum as well. These should be people who either have the best knowledge on the topic at hand (such as Karpo for the comics forum) or ones who frequent the forum often and are veteran members. Only forums such as the questions and comments forums and the hosted forums should be left as they are at this point with no new mods to them.

Along with all of this mod shuffling, I strongly think that when the forums are upgraded, all users should start fresh regarding warnings (i.e., nobody has any warnings when the new forums start). I'm not saying this just for myself, but all of the active posters who have have a warning or 2 that I've noticed have been in more or less good behavior since recieving their warnings, so I think we all deserve another chance.

With that out of the way, I'll go back to the subject of mods. Who do I have in mind for some new mods? Here's a list:

Machias Banshee
HorseTechie

Me :D (once my warnings are removed, that is)

Like I said, the news, announcements, questions/comments, introductions, and hosted forums shold be left the way they are now since they don't need mods knowledgable on the subject or frequent posters.

What do you all think?

Sorry Stone, I couldn't think of one where you'd fit since you seem to comment lightly on everything ;)

what makes you think matthew would make a good mod? he has a good intention and all but he just wouldn't be appropiate, you wouldn't be aproppiate either, i'm just being honest, btw, i thought it was wrong to re-open topics that just got closed

Why wouldn't I be appropriate? I mostly visit the General Discussion forums only, and even Leo656 would say that I'm one of the non-mods on this forum you can count on one hand who actually makes halfway decent posts...no offense to anyone else, that is, and I don't mean to sound self-righteous either.

I think Matt would make an EXCELLENT mod considering:
- He doesn't usually start flame wars
- He's another one of Leo's halfway-decent posters as described above
- He also mostly posts in GD
- He tries to stay neutral on the subject

Oh, and the only reason the previous thread was locked was because the started asked for it to be locked.

EDIT: Oh, and if you still doubt my mod qualification skills, you should know that for a short time I used to be a mod at Doomworld (http://www.doomworld.com/vb) ;)

*stops bragging*don't mind me if i still do  , and you can't brag about having being a moderator, because i was one once too, i moderated a pkmn forums, but i lost interest in pokemon after gold and silver (mostly because of the dumb designs they gave to the characters) and after i was 12 i thought the series were lame, so i stopped going there XD. and i'm just gonna stop here cuz more would be arguing :|

Wow, 27 moderators. It's a good idea, but wouldn't some sections need only one person? And Ratking already moderates the buying/selling section.

Bowser, I don't think you have the slightest idea of what you are talking about. You don't know me.

A pokemon forum.. i used to be a Pokemon Master until they kept changing the rules for the baby pokemon, and i lost interest.
Now for anyone that has challanged me recently, i still mopped the floors with them, still got that PokeMaster touch. :P

[...] Their job is basically the same as the moderators, except they moderate in all forums. They don't have the powers listed above due to software restrictions, but we'll see when the next version comes out.The only thing that would make a super-mod less than an administrator is that they can't hire and fire new mods/super-mods. That will be left solely up to Krang and Shredder. That and the ability to edit the board settings, which should be reserved for admins only.OK, so we have super mods out of the way, but about regular mods? Only forums such as the questions and comments forums and the hosted forums should be left as they are at this point with no new mods to them.Ok, there is absolutely no reason to make that many people mods. That many mods wouldn't make the forums better, it would increase the risk of a conflict between mods (among other risks...). Besides, to be a mod here, one requirement is to have never had a warning, and several people on your list don't qualify for that. Besides, I think the group that we have now is doing a great job, and I think the moderator to member ratio is pretty good for now. We may add one or two more mods eventually, but nothing even close to that.Along with all of this mod shuffling, I strongly think that when the forums are upgraded, all users should start fresh regarding warnings (i.e., nobody has any warnings when the new forums start). No, because that's not fair to people who have had to wait longer to lose their warnings. And subtle or not, please stop nagging me to remove your warning(s), since that's only going to make the wait longer. If you didn't want the second warning in the first place, you should have thought twice before flaming the entire forum...

Krang, i admit you show you have full contral, i just hope not to cross the line. I wish all forums where this straight.

Whatever you say, Krang...I'd rather not say what I want to, though, since it would just waste everybody else's time, which is frustrating for me.

Krang is right, the current crew is handling things just fine, I doubt there will ever be need for that big number of Mods.

Thinking deeply about it in the past few moments, I suspect you have a point.

Why does everyone think I would make this board "go to hell" if I became a moderator? What have I done to make you think that?

Hey, I'm on the suggested mod list.

Why do people say the forum would go bad if Matthew138 was a moderater? I think he would make a good moderater, since everyone respects him and all.
