The official TMNT website has updated today, with some unexpected news. Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael are being re-issued in new packaging. It appears to be a tie-in with the upcoming premiere of the New Toon on Cartoon Network. Each figure will come with a 'DVD Single' of one episode of the new series. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of these types of reissues. But it will be good for the new collectors that have missed the first versions of the turtles. So far here is the line up and links. :)

Leonardo w/ "Garbageman" (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/toys/2004/leo/dvdleomoc.html)

Michelangelo w/ "Darkness on the Edge of Town" (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/toys/2004/mike/dvdmikemoc.html)

Donatello w/ "Garbageman" (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/toys/2004/don/dvddonmoc.html)

Raphael w/ "Darkness on the Edge of Town" (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/toys/2004/raph/dvdraphmoc.html)

Hopefully the final versions will feature four different episodes. It is likely these are just mockups, as the DVD slipcase for Donny's is blue instead of purple and Mikey's is red instead of Orange. After all, it makes little sense to issue the same two episodes twice. So that is likely the case. Either way, it's good for you variation collectors. And it's good for those new collectors that missed the Wave 1 TMNT figures. :)

[Thanks to Phoenix Fire for the news]

I reckon it would be better to do them with their respective episodes (although being in the UK I'm not sure which episode the DVD releases are up to)

Anyway, it would be something like:

Leo - SSB pt.1

Raph - Raph and Lone Cub (doubt DVDs are that far so..) Meet Casey Jones

Don - The King

Mikey - The Unconvincing Turtle Titan

The US just saw release of Vol. 7 and 8. Which is the rest of Season 1. Season 2 DVD's will start in May with the release of Turtles in Space. Those are some good choices, but I wouldn't put a part one on Leo's disc.

It is an interesting idea, but I'm not sure if I'm going to pick these up. I already have the figures and the dvds.

It's just a poor marketing choice to put part 1 of a 2 part ep on an individual "premium" DVD when they can use the Leonardo-centric episode "Tales of Leo" instead.

LMAO i'm gonna HAVE to buy these of course for the DVDs but it's funny cuz I just got into the new series of toys and already bought all 4 (actually my 2nd Don)...
and also had plans to buy a second set to leave MOC, cuz the new ones with the face on the card and the figure in a pose with weapons is so cool...
but I'll go buy those now cuz I don't want the ones with the DVD to be my display version.
So I'll end up with 3 sets of turtles lol

That is a great idea, although:

a. I do not open the packaging
b. I already have the DVDs

I will probably buy it just for the collectablity factor.

I have read both threads on this subject of the first four action dollies from the new cartoon being released once again with DVDS and I thought it very interesting. I too assumed that the pictures up at www.ninjaturtles.com are prototypes, and that each turtle will come with a different DVD when these are released. Anyone want to guess what these are going to cost?

I'm guessing that Playmates knows that at leaset 90% of all the kids that want the first four TMNT figures already have them. They can produce the DVDs in massive amounts and kids will buy these figures just because they are getting a DVD. Marginally, it probably won't cost Playmates anymore to do this than it was to just put out the turtles. They'll make a lot of money off of this, too.

I'm personally excited about this because I haven't even caught one episode of the new cartoon yet, but have been collecting all the toys because I'm so addicted to the TMNT. I'm also excited that the new Raph's pulley doesn't have a rope with hooks, that means my my MOC Raphael from January 2002 (first release) is going to be all the more valuable. I should have bought two Donatello's as well since he is only being given one bo these days, but i already knew that. I didn't know that the Pulley line had been changed until today.

When all of this started, I never dreamed it could potentially be as big of a toy line as that of the original cartoon. While some of the old toys were really cool, I"m falling in love with the new ones very quickly. The new April O' Neil action figure is one hot chick, and Oruku Saki doesn't look bad either. Anyway...

Some of the toys that have come out have been VERY Mirage oriented, as the whole cartoon is Mirage oriented. I think the best is yet to come. Fugitoid, Baxter Stockman, Splinter in a stasis tube, Shredder Clones, and hopefully Karai (and later Renet) will make for great members in yer TMNT action dolly parades- all hail Peter Laird!

Ah, well, I already have the first 4 DVDs, but at least this calms any fears I have of not being able to find the "original" set of figures: Mike, Don, and Leo (I only have Raph) before I can get them for myself.

And I'll just give the DVD to a friend at school or something

This is excellent news to me (if these packs make it here) as I've been collecting the new series MOC and this gives me the oppurtunity to buy packs to open as I'm going to get the DVD's anyway.

Err...maybe I missed it earlier in the thread (I was looking; I tried!), but when are these supposed to be hitting stores? I'm looking forward to these since I've been wanting to review some of these episodes...time for the new toon bashing to begin! :D

Are they suppose to retail for the same price as the reg figs or go to like $9 bc of the dvd?
