New restrictions at FF.net

They announced this a day or two ago, that www.fanfiction.net will be closing their doors on NC-17 material.

While I was desperately hunting around attempting to bookmark personal pages for people who's NC-17 fics I enjoy, or aren't finished yet, I ran across this and decided that I'd ask everyone here who disagrees to with the ruling FF.net is putting up to check it out!

when I signed there were over 8000 signatures... :o thats in about a day and a half! Can we say this was not a popular decision on their part?

The only thing I hate about this... if that if FF.net does take don't all the NC-17 fics, I am not going to like having to edit aaaaaaall the links to those TMNT fics in the Archive! :tgrumble:

I e-mailed fanfiction.net at support@fanfiction.net letting them know that I was quite dissappointed with their decision. I had been thinking about paying for their service upgrade, but there's no point if half of my stories can't be shared.

I'll sign the petition too for what its worth.

I have told my family about this and they are of the same opinion as me. If you don't like NC 17 stories then don't read them! If you're a parent and your under age child is reading them, doesn't that say that you should supervise their 'surf' time? After all we wouldn't expect Hollywood to stop making scarey or distrubing films because some people didn't like them.

BTW, I was speaking to one of my friends last night and he swore up and down that I had written it like Splinter had wood. Did anyone else get that impression? Because if so, I really didn't intend to give anyone the idea that he was "at attention".

Good. He actually re-read the section while we talked and conceded that he'd mis-read it. I was just worried that others might be minsinterpreting it as well. I really do want Splinter to be the innocent victim of circumstance in the first chapter.

ohhh, something that has to do with the magazine, maybe a report, to be realy cruel? i've thought of punishments where the guys get caught sneaking in a pack of beer, and as punishment they have to drink ALL of the beer, have a hangover like they wouldnt believe, and the next morning, while they still have their heads in the Toilet, finally learn their lesson about drinking...

Well, I can say I've personally only perused about 4 or 5 different pornographic magazine titles. Hustler is the nastiest one I've seen. The other one I mention in the story, Playboy, is really more cheesecake picture oriented. Pretty airbrushed girls and very intelligent articles. Splinter wouldn't have needed to be too embarassed about dropping on of them.

Back to the topic. Now that I've cooled off about this, I've done some thinking. While I'd hate to lose the ability to post and read NC-17 rated stories at FF.net, I do understand why they're doing it. Not agree, understand.

There's something else I don't agree with, their new focus on original works. This is FanFiction.net.
