View Full Version : The New TMNT Shredder action figure
Well I've seen the new Shredder action Figure, and I think is way overdone.
I mean if its going to be more like the Mirage comics, then Shredder is totally out of line.
So whatta you think? :tsweatdr:

Well... I know he doesn't look like his Mirage counterpart, but I still like the action figure's design. I'm all for Shredder's new look. :D

Thanks :D Hey , I think his costume is a lot like the old Mirage version. I noticed it when I went to draw him, most of his armore is the same, the mask, the shoulder pads, etc.

Mirage shredder dosent have an armor, it's more like a suit. Well it looks more like mirage shredder than the original cartoon one, but still the toy looks like a robot... But even if thr style is like that i believ it can look good in the show. Just have to wait and see...

I thought it was more like shoulder pads, forearm guards, knuckle guards and shinguards with blades on them. No chest protection at all.

I like the way thats put together Karpo!! :D I think if tey loosen up on the shoulder blades and take out the full cheast protection and work on his face he would be preety cool!!!

Well the face is problem number one. There armor could be ok if he's agile enough in the show...

Yeah.. I kinda like the armor too (but I'm also cyber/robo nut). The red eyes were passable, but since someone pointed out his wrinkled up black cheeks, I have to agree that does look upsurd!

I like his bo in the movie he is awsome with that!!!!!! I'm sure he is a master of all weapons like Splinter though, but he is the best swordsman!!
Karpo_007
09-19-2002, 02:18 PM
Bo? I think it was a spear of some sort not bo...
It was a spear. But since spear-type weapons are really just a blade stuck on the end of a bo, you're both right.
Nturtle
09-19-2002, 04:23 PM
yeah it was a pointed metal bo, I will quote one of my friends when I explained Donatello's bo to him: "Its Juck a Frickin' stick!!!!"
the book off the movie says its a bo I think, but yeah its really the same thing :P

First post here, woohoo. Hello and all that.
Anyway, the Shredda figure: ho-ly-cow. That looks so freakin' COOL. It looks like they took elements from various different Shredders from the past: cartoon Shred, movie Shred, and I'm sure you can find a Mirage Shred similiarity in there somewhere. As for his black face, oh well, it's neat: I drew a picture of a revamped Shredhead once, and I made the skin behind the eyes (white, natch)black. Made him look pretty badass, much the same as it does here. Shame that he doesn't have a cape though.

*gasp* a new person!!! :D
Welcome to our forums! *hands Raphael-sama a mango of welcome* Enjoy your stay! Hope you like mangoes...
*thinks* well, I'm sure they'll put a cape on him in the cartoon. It just wouldnt be the same without it! :D
Raphael-sama
09-21-2002, 12:14 PM
Mangoes do fine. *eats it*
Yeah, hopefully he'll have a cape on at least in some point in time on the show. Every Shredder before hand has had one at some point in time, except for the Mirage one, I think... but the show is based on the Mirage comics and blaaah I'm all confused now...
And sorry if I'm going a bit off topic, but WHY are all four turtles's bandanas defying gravity on their toys? It looks really tacky to me, and it would only work if they're constantly falling from tall buildings. It's something that I'm sure gonna gnaw on my mind when I'm playing with these guys next Spring.
Machias Banshee
09-21-2002, 12:16 PM
They've always kinda done that, havent they?
Raphael-sama
09-21-2002, 12:18 PM
Yeah, maybe, I dunno: my memory of the original toys are real foggy, haven't seen one of 'em since I was little. Oh well. Gonna be fun having all new toys to waste mon--er, spend my hard eanred dough on. :D

YAY!!! new person!!! cool avatar dude!!!!!! *hands Raph-sama another mango of welcome* :D I don't like shred heads cape, it kind of restricts his movements, speaking from an animator's stand point. :ohwell:
Machias Banshee
09-21-2002, 12:45 PM
well...I like a nice big flowing cape *coughlookatfanartbyamydumascough* It adds so much opportunity to get creative with textures and stuff....
but yeah, realistically, he'd probably prefer a thigh lenthg cape instead of a dragger....
As cool as capes look, they aren't at all practical in battle. They get caught: around body parts, on hooks and such, or the enemy can grab them. I think Shredder from the first movie had it right. Wear the cape when you have to look important, take it off for fighting. He had that nice metallic cape when addressing his soldiers, but he wasn't wearing it when he fought the Turtles.

Right as always, Kali ;)
I absolutely LOVED that cape....beautilful designs....I always dreamed that i'd have a cape like that....

09-21-2002, 01:32 PM
 yup, I hope they do that in the cartoons that would rule!!!! Yeah I wish I had a cape like that and a grunting guy who followed me around and took it on or off as I said!! :P

NTurtle, thanks. *munch munch, bite* Glad you like the avatar, swiped it off the FoxBox site. c_c
Yeah, if Shredd does get a cape in the show, it should be like in the movie. Indeed, it probably will judging by the toy. I'm betting we'll see Shredd put one on at some point in the show's life: as I said, every one previous has various designer fashions stuck in the drawers of Foot Hq/Technodrome/etc.

Shredder is actually the only figure I'm disappointed in (though I have yet to see April). The one thing that bugs me is that I thought Shredder should have a regular tan skin tone, and normal eyes. I agree with whoever said he looks like a robot (IE Chrome Dome). Making him a Japanese human with blades all over him does the job just fine. Less is more in my opinion. However, if that's what he looks like in the show, then show accuracy is more important here.

09-21-2002, 02:05 PM
twinAJ1, I'm personally glad that this Shredder is more then a "Japanese human with blades all over him" (which he still is, mind, unless they throw some incredibly wild plot twist at us). This is, what, the fifth? sixth? Shredder we've had? It's nice to see some variation between the designs while still having the definate Shredhead look. Keeps the concept fresh and keeps us coming back for more. :)

no problem raph-sama, well I guess you are right about variations in shows, comics and movies but what the use if i isn't that good? oh well its a matter of opinon and could be debated forever :P

09-21-2002, 04:49 PM
I guess it comes down to a matter of taste. No matter: I'm sure the Shredder on the show is going to be an improptu badass who pushes Baxter's dumb ass around, so what's the point in complaining about looks, eh? He'll probably look better on the show anyway.

*rolls eyes* Geeks. :P
But yeeeah.. I doubt Shredder will be wearing his full armor n cape all the time in the new toon. (Like how the Mirage Turtles aren't wearing their masks and weaposn all the time) In fact... when Leo decapitated Wormy Shredder the II in RtoNY, he didn't have his armor on at the time. No wonder it was so easy for Leo to kill him!
TwinAJ1, you got nothing to worry about he is fully human as far as is known.
