I loved the Turtle Van, even though I didn't have it. :ohwell:

Well Im not really fond of the vehicles. The Turtles used them because Playmates funded the show. If that would happen to the new series, that could ruin the mood. Im afraid because playmates is making the toys. I have nothing against it if they use aprils van, They did in the comic, but if they are going to have "turtle van" or "Sewer sled" then i will be really dissapointed. There is hope tough. I have seen a spider-man motorcycle and stuff like that so they might not have those things in the show.

I thought the Turtle van was an original idea by the creators of the Archie comic. The Turtles use Baxter's van to create something that they themselves can use.

How else would they be able to get around? The Turtles without the Turtle van is like Michaelangelo without a pizza.

Playmates started manufacturing toys in 1988, I think. So the Turtle Van and Turtle Blimp might very well have been the idea of the writers.

I agree that the sewer sled, cheapskate, retro-catapult, etc. got a bit excessive. The pizza-thrower was awesome, though (it never appeared in a show, but Playmates made one anyway).

Well im not sure about that. Peter Laird said somewhere that he didnt remember who got the idea for tehnodrome and said that it might have been playmates. Well ok The Van and the Bilmp Are ok in the old cartoon i think. The other vehicles are clearly advertaisment for toys... Well TMNT wasnt the only series that did that.(He-man, anyone?)

I voted now.In the cartoon the van is pretty much original. It even has something to do with plot because They Modified the van so that they could track down the technodrome.

Funny that you said MIchaelangelo without pizza. In the Mirage the TMNT are not pizza maniacs and i remember reading that they wont eat pizza anymore. AND Michaelangelo gets his name spelled right. He will probably be Michelangelo.

what about the transportation from TNM eps? I loved Raph's bike and the Turtle Humvey (or Hummer, whatever). I choose those!!!

That's interesting. I just figured the Turtles' endless appetite for pizza was something done from the very beginning. And, yes, about Michaelangelo's name -- I have seen it spelled both ways. I wonder why it was changed? :-?

I have read that in the firs issue they made a spelling error.,and they didnt bother to change it after the comic became popular. When Peter Laird Choose to make volume 4 of the comic book, he said that for all future TMNT projects his name will be corrected.

Yes, I liked the Turtle van and the Turtle blimp. But I thought those Sewer Skis were pretty cool, too. Getting behind the steering wheel of one of those babies would have been awesome!

Does anyone know if the Sewer Ski was a toy first? Or was it written into the cartoon?

P.S. This was my 200th post! I am so proud of myself. :D :trazz: 8)

alright just to let you all know, tmnt was made, became popular. Then they wanted toys made, but all toys companies turned em down. Playmates however, only making girl toys b4 hand, said that if there was a cartoon they would make toys. Almost all the vehicles and ideas started out with playmates. You have ot rmemebr that the show was all advertisment for toys. (cough transformers, sniff gijoe, hack hasbro sneeze) Now the cartoon may have appeared b4 the toys, but remember how long does it take to mass produce a toy? I mean we've known about the new toys for monthes b4 they came out... Same with back then. Peter and Kevin probably wanted to keep it close to the comic, but they ahd to go 5050 both ways and ended up with a turtle van similar ot the van in the comics, but made more for the turtles. I mean what's the use of making a van of april oneil and not the turtles? kids don't want aprils car they want a turtels car.

all vehicles started out as toys, same with figures. Like dirtbag and groundchuck etc...

All I ever saw of Ace Duck in the cartoon was a clip of him on a TV show the Turtles were watching (and I forgot the name of the episode too!!!)

PWDESAI

that's because they made the toy and wanted a tad bit of advertisement. Playmates made the toy, and the show didn't think they could fit ace duck in.

I believe Ace Duck was featured in "Attack of Big MACC" for about two seconds. This was enough to justify making an action figure out of him.

Whatever.

The toys were in stores before the show came on.

The turtles need a vehicle. They got a armored car in the new show, and thats pretty cool.

But...if the toys weren't released until 1988 (that's what it says on the official site; also says that they had to have the TV show before the toys could be made), how is that so?

Armored car in the new show? That cant be good... Or atleast they dont follow the mirage plot directly.

I think I've made a comment before about how the armored car looks exactly like the one used in the 3D CGI pilot...coincidence?

Probably not, Laird liked the CGI pilot.

They do have an armored car in the new Mirage comic series.

Karpo_007

I know, but the show is supposedly based on older Mirgae, wich happens 15 years before that.

Kali

I'm just saying that the armored truck wasn't completely out of the blue. While the new cartoon's gonna take elements from the comics, I doubt they're gonna follow storylines exactly.

Karpo_007

I know. But after reading the first episode summary, the plot seemed pretty much taken from the comic. First i was hoping it would be a direct coversion from comic to animation, but now that i think of it maybe it's better not to know all the plots before hand.
