Between the two of us on this thread, we've got some serious "X Files Theme" going in our speculations.

Ninjinister 04-26-2018 06:19 PM

I don't think I can be unconvinced that movie 3 isn't just as much Distractions as it is Masks. Unless the writer(s?) or director state otherwise, of course.

MsMarvelDuckie 04-26-2018 06:22 PM

My random thought- where did Splinter learn to cook, or do any of the many things needed for raising four young children (like hooking up power, heat, and water in the lair ), before Donnie was old enough to start doing those things.

Utrommaniac 04-26-2018 06:27 PM

Yeah, I've wondered that for myself. Especially in the case that early on, he wouldn't have had access to any kind of cooking devices. Or anything to make their weapons.

In a sewer.

Where flames probably aren't the best thing to have around.

(I for one like to think that he had to steal a lot of things and rummage through garbage. But since a lot of these stories revolve around American "Ninja Honor", that probably wasn't the case"

Unquestionably. I've always said the same. If it wasn't a direct influence, that'd be one hell of a coincidence...

I only came to the conclusion after re-reading Distractions again recently. good to know I'm not entirely insane though :D

Isn't it ironic that TMNT III, Michael Dooney's Mirage #46-47 Masks, and the Season 7 ep "Legend of Koji" all came out at roughly the same time?

Did everyone get the same idea to have the Turtles travel back in time to ancient Japan at the same time or something, or was this planned across 3 universes as a marketing type thing?

MsMarvelDuckie 04-27-2018 11:04 AM

That's- not irony, Cubed. The word you're looking for is serendipity.

Wow really? I had no idea 15 year olds could get creative writing degrees that quick.

Yes it was meant to happen.

The-Shredder 04-27-2018 12:37 PM

Ever wonder what the real world make and model equivalents are to the Turtles' vehicles?

What an oddly phrased question, are you asking what kind of corporation would make such vehicles?

Probably some niche, novelty company that appeals to rich eccentrics.

No, I meant before they were modified (Baxter's van, the Purple Dragon's armored car, etc.)

Ah, OK then.

Baxter's van is presumably based on April's van from the comics, which was a Volkswagen.

It's certainly not ironic.

Prowler 04-27-2018 02:38 PM

At first I thought CC didn't know what "irony" means. But I guess it's just a running gag of him at this point :P

Ninjinister 04-27-2018 02:48 PM

It's like raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin on your wedding day

Why can't it be both

CyberCubed 04-27-2018 04:47 PM

My definition of ironic is something that's amusing but quite odd.

Andrew NDB 04-27-2018 04:52 PM

Are we even sure that "Masks" COULD have influenced TMNT 3? It came out less than a year before TMNT 3 came out... surely it would have already been filming about the time the second issue of it dropped, or already written for sure.
