How many hours a day do you usually sleep?

I usually sleep 7 to 9 hours per day. I break my sleep schedule more often than I should, however... but still manage to get the right amount of hours in. Funnily enough, I sleep more than I did when I was a kid/teenager

What about you?

plastroncafe 03-03-2017 03:18 PM

Usually between 7 and 8 hours.
I can rock a day on 6 hours of sleep, but anything less than that and it's a crapshoot.

I really can't function properly with less than 7 hours of sleep. A lot of times I was a zombie in early morning classes back in my school days. Thank Odin I've barely had classes before 1PM in uni.

I can do like...one day a week where I only get six hours. Maybe. If I'm lucky and don't have to do anything all that mentally taxing.

And it's only getting worse the older I get.

One thing that I've found that really helps me wake up in the morning, and not be an absolute c*nt to everyone within reach, is this app called SleepBot. It's for android, and it uses the position-sensors of the phone to judge when I'm at a shallower stage of sleep.

It's worked wonders for me.

So you sleep with your phone in like, a pocket?

snake 03-03-2017 03:55 PM

11/12 hours on a good day.

9 hours most days.

Sundays used to be notorious nights of poor sleep for me, since I'd always sleep in on weekends and go to bed later.

I once had a job where I had to wake up every morning around five in the morning. I was sleeping 5 hours per night on average.

One thing that helps me wake up on time or even earlier is setting the alarm. For some reason I ALWAYS wake up 15-20 minutes before it rings. It's like it gets burnt in my head that I have to be up around that time and it's as if I'm afraid of waking up startled by the loud alarm(I listen to heavy metal). But then I wake up, disable it andam like "just 5 more minutes".... and we all know how lethal that is.

I charge it overnight, and leave the phone itself on the corner of my mattress.

They say lack of sleep can stunt your growth, yet I managed to get to 183cm(6'0 for you murrcans), which is a feat considering my father is only about 175(5'9?).

Then again I never smoked tobacco...

Krutch 03-03-2017 04:00 PM

Sunday-Thursday, 5 hours. Friday and Saturday, about 9.

Huh. Phones are more sensitive than I thought.

Risky. It can fall.

Haven't had a problem yet, and I've been using it for at least 4 years.
The floor is carpeted, the phone is in a case, and is attached by a cable.

ToTheNines 03-03-2017 04:15 PM

I love 8, but I usually wake up at 5:00 in the morning. So I normally just settle for 6 hours. Damn the days I gotta be at work by 4:00 or 5:00.

I wish I could still nap, but I never have time unless someone else drives the work truck back.

Andrew NDB 03-03-2017 04:16 PM

Not very much. I'll generally sleep 4 or 5 hours. I'll wake up super early and just lay there, trying to go back to sleep but it doesn't happen.

I second this! My sleep is broken up and I'm lucky to snag 5 hours. Lots of staring at the ceiling.

MsMarvelDuckie 03-03-2017 06:53 PM

Go to bed around 10 or 11, get up at 3:30 AM. So.... Usually 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 hours. Fridays or Saturdays I sleep ad late as I want though, usually until 10 or 11 AM.

DestronMirage22 03-06-2017 09:48 AM

I usually try to sleep at least 8 hours a night. Closing shifts at work, and late movie nights have cut into my sleep schedule though (sometimes I'll even go to bed at 2 A.M.) but I don't mind.

IndigoErth 03-06-2017 12:12 PM

It usually takes me some time to fall asleep, so it varies. I prefer to try to get at least 7, that's the amount I tend to feel rested at; 8 all the better.

Though I often end up going on 6 hours, sometimes 5; functional, but "bleh." Less than that is hard to go on. Which I've occasionally had to do, esp only early work mornings after not sleeping well, but it leaves me feeling more like I'd rather just throw up instead.

The Deadman 03-06-2017 12:42 PM

It varies, if I dont have to really do anything the next day, about 7-8. If I have to wake up super early for work, about 4-5.
