Smallville Season 11

Smallville returns in April in comic book format!! It'll be a weekly digital/web series with the print of the first 4 chapters coming to comic shops in May.

Set 6 months after the show ended it's essentially Superman yr 1. Chloe is still married to Ollie and now goes by the name of Chloe Sulivan-Queen.

Thank you for starting the thread! I am soooo pumped for this. I was so sad when the series ended. Its like I lost some friends that i see every Friday night. I had always hoped for a continuation, similar to the Buffy franchise. And now we have it! Cant wait for April, the month not our beloved reporter. Haha

The original plan from what I hear is that it was going to be a novel, but novels about comic book heroes lack the magic.

I do have a bit of a problem with this...not that it'll be bad or anything, it's just that it's set in the period between Clark donning the coustume and the final few minutes of the finale, where we know everything is fine and dandy, I thus question where the emotional investment is going to come from for this.

I would have loved to have seen the comic tackle things where the finale REALLY left off, with Clark putting his marraige to Lois on hold to deal with the elevator bomb and other adventures can branch off from there, but I guess I'm asking for too much.

At least two good things come out of this, the first being this will hopefully be able to explain why Clark and Lois hold off their wedding for seven years, why Lex is President etc...though that'll probably take more than just season 11 to tell. Secondly, this will be the first book since the launch of the New 52 to feature a Lois Lane that is emotionally connected to Clark and who also knows his duel identity, a dynamic I've very much missed.

That first print cover is terrible btw.

i can't imagine extending the series since he has now officially become Superman. I'll check it out. Thanks for the info.

Looks like they're using the New 52's suit with the blue trunks instead of the classic suit with red trunks that was used in the Smallville finale.

I am so excited to start reading this new series!

Well, two digital chapters in and I'm hooked.

I've been somewhat on a Smallville binge lately, consuming an episode or two each night before going to bed. I guess when you watch a show for a decade straight it's kind of like missing old friends when its over.

Anyways, after a kind of boring first chapter, the second one was a treat. The dialogue and character exchanges all felt true to the show; it was very easy to visualize and hear the actors come to life in the panels. (Though Lois looks pretty non-Erica Durance).

The Lex and Clark scene was very enjoyable. It actually gave weight to the decision of wiping Lex's memories, a decision I've hated since it aired. But here, it gives the relationships that Lex develops more to play with. You never quite know how much Lex remembers or is covering up, which makes the reveal on the last page that much more intriguing.

So far so good :) Looking forward to more.

I agree. Quite pleased they managed to capture the tone and pacing as the series.

Batman is headed to Metropolis in the second "episode" of the season, and fans of Spoiler are in for a treat too as Stephanie Brown resurfaces as Nightwing in this continuity

Pardon the necropost but I recently finished watching the series and decided to move on to the comic "season 11." I post here to ask what people think of the likenesses, especially of the new characters like Henshaw, who I swear was modeled after Matthew Fox

I only ever read the first few issues of Smallville but for the most part I thought the likeness was pretty solid. I definitely see the Matthew Fox in Henshaw now that you pointed it out.

How are you liking the series?

Jester 06-15-2018 02:27 PM

Not bad...lots of stuff they could never do in live action.
