NECA 1/4 scale Henson Turtles!!!

http://i63.tinypic.com/wb2xvl.jpg

These will be the pinnacle of my collection.

plastroncafe 02-13-2016 09:37 AM

Oh wow!
Okay that looks awesome!

Candy Kappa 02-13-2016 09:40 AM

Not a fan of NECA's current fetish for 1/4th scale, but that's a perrdy looking Turtle.

Maybe down the line they'll make some more standard NECA 7" figures.

TheMasterTurtle 02-13-2016 09:45 AM

Yeah this would be better at 1/6 scale and like I said in the other thread I have to wonder if this is the work of Trevor

The picture you posted is Trevor's work, yes but it may not be the one we see here, not at this time but hopefully we'll get to know more :)

VaughnMichael 02-13-2016 10:01 AM

I was so excited for this until I saw the scale.
Come on enough with the giant figures!!:x

Ha yeah I know it's Trevor's work that's why I posted it for anyone who didn't know to compare. I have his Raph and maybe this is why Donny had been on delay for so long. There are a lot of style similarities in the sculpts.

Anyway I approve except for the scale. I want 1/6. I feel like now that Henson turtles are getting attention someone like Hot Toys (probably not HT cause they're focused on the marvel and Star Wars properties) will put out this scale.

These will be hard to pass up though

Oculus Orbus 02-13-2016 10:21 AM

I'm pretty sure that NECA, and most likely Mondo too with their own TMNT line, would love to put these out in 1/6 scale, but they're not allowed because of the contracts between Playmates and Nickelodeon.

VaughnMichael 02-13-2016 10:24 AM

Which is dumb because Playmates gave up on the collectors marker because they can't hold a candle to these other companies. :tmad:

The mondo turtles are 1/6 scale

That's exactly right. I feel it would be wiser for Nickelodeon to handle the franchise differently so that fans don't feel constantly let down: allow Playmates to hold the rights to produce figures based on the Nick's show if they wish (which is basically the only thing they seemed interested in doing), but let other companies take other incarnations. I don't see how NECA making Mirage or Henson Turtles for the collector's market affects the sales of Playmate's kids toys.

Redrumh2o 02-13-2016 10:34 AM

WoW!!!!......I do not approve of the scale..... Maybe I'll be able to afford, and have room for just 1. I still love my Sideshow turtles....to me they are perfect in size and representation..... But I do love my some Henson!!

Yeah, sorry, I meant 1/12. Always get confused with the scales.

Ok you threw me there

But yeah NECA deals in 1/12 and 1/4 which is why we are seeing them at thst scale but damn I want 1/6 more than anything.

Agreed. And, to come full circle, they'd look great displayed next to Mondo's.

Greed pure greed.

cloud 02-13-2016 11:28 AM

Neca's 18" line is the only loop hole so far that they can work with for most licenses.
They will stick with 18" because 1:6 scale licenses are mostly taken by a lot of companies.

I'm very excited for these 1:4 figs. I hope they would at least make Shredder beside the turtles.

Candy Kappa 02-13-2016 11:29 AM

NECA could maybe loop hole 7" Turtles like they did with Burton Batman and stuff DVD's with them.

I actually hope that does happen.

But yeah, Donatello will be bought. When they get around to doing Raphael, I'll have to pick up two of those. Raphael is my brother's favorite turtle.

Autbot_Benz 02-13-2016 11:40 AM

Neca is my new favorite company. They are doing Bill and Ted figures too.

I Crave Pizza No More 02-13-2016 11:43 AM

The market is so oversaturated right now. It's good in the sense that we have lots of choices, but at a certain point collectors get maxed out in terms of budget, space, and enthusiasm.

The Boston Ninja Turtle 02-13-2016 11:46 AM

I need these right now!

go_ninja84 02-13-2016 11:47 AM

man between the Figuarts animated series figures and these my TMNT figure fantisies would be fulfilled. these are must haves

If it's like their other 1/4 scale stuff... they don't have the rights for 6"-7" figures.

Sculpt is indeed by Trevor Zammit.

Nice I speculated that was the case. Do you have a source we can see?

I spoke to Trevor today about this line they are releasing q2 2016 all 4 are being made he's currently finishing the Leo sculpture. These will stand around 16 inches tall and probably cost around 100 each. I'm in for all 4 for sure although I prefer 1/6 scale as well. These are fully articulated as well.

As I posted earlier, it's possible they can eventually bypass it like they did with Keaton Batman, Reeve Superman and Ledger Joker. The sculpt was shrunk to NECA's usual 1/10th (7") scale and where packed with a DVD movie, which was a loophole they exploited.

Oh wonderful :) Can't wait for more information! Thank you for sharing :tsmile:

d_osborn 02-13-2016 01:44 PM

These look way nicer than the Prime1 1/4 scale statues. Fingers crossed for a smaller scale. So being NECA, I'm guessing these are supposed to be lower end than what Prime1 is releasing? It's funny that the sculpts look WAY nicer. I'm not big on the figure/statue biz, so what's the difference here? Scope of quality? Articulation? Materials or paint quality? It seems a bit odd that two different licensees would put out such drastically similar items at the same scale.

My fingers are still crossed for a decent Barron Shredder! Bring on the pink sparkly fabric!

sdp 02-13-2016 01:47 PM

My two dream versions of turtle toys exist in scales I don't want them to.

Marksenad 02-13-2016 02:10 PM

Hopefully neca doesn't do what they always do and cancel the last one

Hmmm... but there were only three movies, and four turtles.
And if they did, and I hope they do, I hope they would go with first film likenesses.

Considering NECA 7"Adam West Batman was released with Batman Begins and NECA 7" Reeve Superman came with (iirc) Man of Steel movie, I don't think that would be a problem with 6 soon 7 TMNT out there.

DVD 02-13-2016 02:28 PM

These are going to be good.
I do not have any 1/4 figures. I even passed on the awesome Hot Toys Batman. These though... No way am I passing on them.

Shred87 02-13-2016 02:37 PM

For 100 a piece i would have to consider them.... May be too big though

So freaking beautiful

Lil Karai 02-13-2016 02:44 PM

These will be released one figure per quarter to make budgeting a little easier...

I'm in for Leo, I figure. These are gonna be amazing. But I of course share the immense frustration that comes with knowing they're so damn big. I hate you, Playmates.
