Will a living sacrifice be needed to bring back the Shredder?

This is purely speculation, but we do know from the trailers one of the tasks that Tiger Claw wants the Shredder brought back to life.

However in media, in order to restore something from the dead to the living it's not just immediate. There is an exchange that must take place.

Take Harry Potter for example. In the fourth installment, there is a ritual performed to bring "Moldy Voldy" back to the living. Before you start arguing that Voldemort wasn't dead, he may as well have been. I'm not going to go into details as to why aside from the fact that he has split his soul up so many times he doesn't count as human anymore. And after his failed attempt at defeating Harry Potter, he is just in a weakened larval like state that needs to be fed snake venom every hour in order to maintain his life.

But in the ritual that took place did involve a sacrifice of sort. The bone of Voldemorts father, the hand of Voldemort's servant, and the blood of Voldemort's enemy.

In other instances, however, there is a life exchanged for the person that is deceased. Such as in Naruto when the Impure World Reincarnation is used. In that case the DNA of the deceased and a living sacrifice must be used as a vessel.

But it in other cases it is the life of another to person that needs to be used to animate the body and bring life to the deceased. Essentially the life energy of the person will fuel the person back from the dead, while the soul of the sacrifice will take the place of the deceased in the underworld.

And that might be the case here. While I can see a living sacrifice being made with the Food Clan, there are also rules for what sort of person is needed.

It would also be a sense of cruel irony if it was someone from the Turtles side who is chosen for this task. Because one it would mean that the life of one of their own is sustaining their greatest enemy. And two it would mean that if they slay the Shredder again, they will be killing their brother and/or friend as well.

If this turns out to be true, who do you believe it will be and why?

I could see Tiger Claw using Karai since she was raised by Shredder and turned her back on him when she became aware of her true heritage. She may care for her regardless and reprimand him upon his return, but that would be the likely one Tiger Claw would target to trade for Shredder.

Good possibility, but what if it's Kravaxas himself does the choosing. I mean take the episode "Heart of Evil" for example. The plot line says Donnie has a grudge against Don Vizioso that threatens a mission. A title like that is too heavy to just be about a grudge.

And Donnie holding a grudge towards a minor villain in general in out of character. His life and the lives of his brothers and loved ones have been threatened and nearly taken before, and while that has made some events more personal. He has never held a grudge against them.

In the archie comic it was explained that Donnie has a pure heart and soul and is thus able to enter the underworld unscathed.

And while this verson of Donnie is not as pure hearted as say Mikey. He has had a recent brush with the underworld and that may be what Kravaxas needs.

Then again, maybe Donnie's grudge does distract too much and enabling Karai to be taken as a sacrifice.

If they do need a living sacrifice then I bet it could be Leo because he's the one who killed Shredder but I hope it aint him, I like it to be one of the other Turtles, prefer Mikey.

Here's a list of characters they can sacrifice:
  1. Bebop
  2. Rocksteady
  3. Mondo gecko
  4. Pigeon Pete
  5. Napoleon
  6. Bigfoot
  7. Kraang Sub-Prime

Personally, if this is the case, I could see it being Leo (he killed Shredder) or Karai out of pure spite.

In the theme song of season 5, they do show what appears to be a Zombie Shredder, but I'm not sure if a sacrifice is really needed to bring him back. Xavakas looks powerful enough to bring back from the dead whomever he wills with the snap of a finger.
