Trump admin bans CDC from using 'evidence-based' on official budget documents

Thats right thanks to the Trump Admin the CDC( Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) are banning the following words from budget documents ": vulnerable, entitlement, diversity, transgender, fetus, evidence-based and science-based" due to ideology. Now before you ask "why banning the world transgender is a problem" this basically means that the CDC can't prevent HIV among transgender people.

Good. Reddit Politics need to f*ck off and die.

Autbot_Benz 12-16-2017 09:23 PM

man Transgender people must really scare republicans to death. I mean they are already scared of Science and Facts so this doesn't surprise me.

Candy Kappa 12-17-2017 02:05 AM

The guys that are afraid of trans people using the bathroom but are supporting sexual predators and pedophiles do more stupid backwards ****? I'm sooooo shocked...

Bry 12-17-2017 09:15 AM

"Science" and "evidence" are "Reddit politics" now?

It must be exhausting living your life around an insane, perpetual state of spite.

plastroncafe 12-17-2017 09:22 AM

Don't forget fetus.
Or the fact that the GOP forbid the use of the work vagina.

It's kind of hilarious how afraid of science they are.

IndigoErth 12-17-2017 02:02 PM

What's Reddit even got to do with it? Pretty sure Reddit doesn't matter in the long run.

These new banned words are ridiculous. Talk about snowflakes if those words bother them. Though if he could, I'm sure he'd ban us all from the words he thinks are "mean" against him. :trolleye:

He just likes everyone paying attention to him and stuff like this fires up his base. I work with one that has become particularly nasty since the election. He’s just exploiting fearful people for press attention.

Can you imagine how batsh!t crazy Trump would get if all the media decided to completely ignore him? He’d do increasingly crazy stuff trying to get their attention. Asmuch as he rails againt them he loves all the attention.

I mean, at the end of the day, the guy is a New York Socialite. When the press stops covering one of those, its worse than death in their eyes.

Absolutely nothing

I wonder if Reddit is the new Whipping Boy because they have rid themselves of their redpill / incel communities.

ProactiveMan 12-18-2017 01:13 AM

Does anybody take Reddit seriously enough to effect policy? It seems like a place where bored people go to leach kudos from things they had nothing to do with.

And as always, the venn diagram of people who'd call "censorship" over hate forums being shut down on privately-owned websites, yet cheer the actual government banning words is a perfect circle.

So it's not a imposed ban but a "suggestion" to avoid the 7 banned words so the documents looks more appealing...

Either way, last time CDC was told not to use certain words, it didn't go so well so it's a very scary and dangerous thing to do.

IndigoErth 12-18-2017 08:45 AM

Instead of “science-based” or “evidence-based,” the suggested phrase is “CDC bases its recommendations on science in consideration with community standards and wishes”...
Why don't they just simplify it and switch it to "bias-based"?

MsMarvelDuckie 12-18-2017 09:00 AM

Because that would be too obvious. They at least want it to have the SEMBLANCE of credibility.....

Then again the actual alternative isn't that much better, he is what I got from one of the articles you mentioned

"Instead, he said, agency budget analysts were told that some words and phrasing might be more likely to win support for the CDC’s budget in the current Congress."

So its basically either you don't use the words we don't want you to use or we won't give a bigger budget or even slash the budget you already get.

plastroncafe 12-18-2017 10:20 AM

What's a little oops insurance between government agencies?

What if they just tacked faked lavish praise for Mr. Trump onto the end of every document instead? lol

Metalwolf 12-20-2017 07:18 AM

I might roll my eyes at some of those words but even I wouldn't ban them. Along with the attempt at Net Neutrality repealing this looks like an initial stab at government imposed censorship.

It would have to be at the beginning, because I kind of don't really expect this Administration has the attention span to actually finish a document.
