Still way too early to say what things will ultimately level out at but even with what we see here it looks fairly promising. About a 50% drop from #1 to #2 isn't to be unexpected, but what's positive to see is that things actually picked up after this drop in #3 by over 3000 copies.

I couldn't be happier here...we finally(at least in 2009 I certainly didn't expect there to be a NEW turtles comics book for real...more like somewhere in the distant foggy future with luck there'll be reprints)...I tell you it feels so good to await a new issue each month again, like in the old days..I only got into getting monthly comic books because of mirage tmnt comics...
and now the book is also SO GOOD and EXCITING...with sales numbers staying anywhere near these marks there must be LOTS of years of the new book ahead!thank you idw amigos!!

Matches Malone 12-10-2011 02:22 PM

Climbing up the ranks a few notches from last month's ranking as well as being the highest selling non-DC/Marvel issue is very encouraging, it seems. Let's hope the quality and quantity of the book stays strong!

CyberCubed 12-10-2011 04:11 PM

Wasn't the series also IDW's top selling property?

If Turtles outsells all their other comics isn't that a good sign?

ToTheNines 12-10-2011 04:43 PM

Yikes. G.I. Joe and Star Trek are both outselling Ghostbusters... that's downright criminal.

Donnie 12-10-2011 04:48 PM

The ranking is awesome and very promising. My shop said they were selling like crazy.

Ghostbusters is a fantastic book. Peeps need to be buying it up like hotcakes!

It is considering they publish a ton of TF series too.

I'm hoping they keep the TMNT titles to one a month with the occasional special and crossover. My wallet doesn't want to part with more money for multiple books for the same title!

Wow awesome news, u know what sucks is that my comic shop isnt ordering enough issues to get all the variants:(.......

pannoni1 12-10-2011 07:10 PM

When you consider that the TMNT prequel comics back in 2007 around the time of the CGI movie's release are ranked #218 and #219, this is an encouraging sign. The site has data that goes back to 1992, and I'm surprised that for 1992 and 1993 during the City at War days, that the Turtles didn't register at all!

Time to find a new shop. ;)

But it is fantastic to see the turtles doing so well. This is the first time I have been able to buy a monthly turtle book, and it's a great feeling.

I think no matter how far it drops in sales it'll still sell well enough for IDW to continue the series, Transformers sells well enough to have how many spin-offs. And if it sells well they do listen to fans since they do cater to them so seeing Spin-offs of TMNT books based on the Archie/OT/Mirage universe I think is definitely a possibility, as long as it sells and there are fans they'll do it, Transformers is able to do it, who knows if TMNT could.

very good sales for the new tmnt comics books but sales would have been lot higher if it was released worldwide and not onl in few country. Does IDW realise that they lost thousands of sales by not releasing it in all countries?

I wouldn't be too sure about that, I think the most faithfull TMNT fans are still mostly from US. I could be completely wrong of course. TMNT was a worldwide phenomenon back in the day after all.

Not to come off harsh, but if you paid attention, you would've realized that it was not a decision by IDW but a licensing issue. They actually announced global distribution rights very recently, so you are just complaining about IDW for nothing. You should probably make sure you know what's going on before making presumptions.

Andrew NDB 12-11-2011 05:07 PM

I would assume whatever limitations on publications in other countries were a contractual thing with Nick/Viacom... the license to put out what IDW is putting out of TMNT right now in the US is one thing, but as soon as you start talking about worldwide distribution and all that it becomes a different ballpark in legalese.

marcelangelo 12-11-2011 05:38 PM

they are actually shipping and selling them over here...in europe that is..at least I am able to get all the books/covers since I wish...I was able since iss 1 but then there was trouble cóncerning licenses rights but now they are gone and there should be no problem for people to get them...
