Who would be a good cast for April and Casey?

Who would you believe could play a good April O' Neil and Casey Jones on film and why? Whether it's based on Mirage, IDW, or something different? You can name multiple actors if you'd like?

I have a dream that one day Jasika Nicole will play April.

d_osborn 12-08-2017 10:19 AM

In my dream adaptation, Rosario Dawson or Christina Hendricks for April.

Good lord, the new MCU Punisher Jon Bernthal with long stringy hair would be a fantastic Casey, but eh... too close to Punisher. Ideally, someone that could channel DeNiro in Taxi Driver.

If Jon Hamm were 10 years younger, I'd see him as a perfect Casey Jones. He was killer in Baby Driver.

I like these choices...

Maybe a young Maya Rudolph or Bryce Dallas Howard for April. They'd have to be able to sell a certain comedic aspect to offset the gritty ninja stuff and bring an authentic kind of humanity to the role, IMHO. After she hit the gym a bit, maybe Aidy Bryant from SNL.

If he played the character with a rough edge, I'd honestly be interested in seeing Tobey Maguire's take on Casey Jones. Hopefully it would be something like the darker bits he had in the Spider-Man movies, along with maybe a stronger NY accent. If not him, then maybe Edward Norton, a young De Niro or Clint Eastwood circa the first Dirty Harry.

Look at this screen test for the first Spider-Man and imagine him holding some hockey gear.

Profanity warning for this scene from Brothers (2009).

Thank you! :D

Okay, that Maguire scenes are close to a good Casey.

But in my imagination Casey Jones is the young Elias Koteas. It's like Harrison Ford IS Han Solo or Indiana Jones.

I hope someday in a new TMNT movie an new actor can change that for me. Till then I'm stuck with Koteas. Not complaining. ;)

Those clips are some pretty damn convincing evidence.
Wow!

I could put my vote in for Ann Hathaway. Yes she is on the oldish side, but she could pull off April rather well. She has broken free from her ingenu roles but still has a cute and sassy presence.

Jennifer Lorance isn’t that great an actress, though a better actress then Megan Fox to be sure. After all the one thing Lorance really has over Fox is an Oscar for best actress. So she could actually pull off an interesting April.

Jena Malone on the other hand could be a rather feisty version of April.

As for Casey I would say Chris Pratt or Sam Claflin could work

Chris Pratt is on the oldish side yes, but he has all the charm for Casey Jones

Sam Claflin is a British actor, but he does pull off an Amerian styled voice very well. And he does play characters that do have a sly charm to them, such as Finnick O’Dare in Hunger Games

I'm on board with Hathaway as April.

Who's Jasika?

sgtfbomb 12-30-2017 03:28 PM

I'm down for Anne Hathaway. After the last time, it would be nice to see the character have some spunk, intellect, and experience, and actually act like an adult and I can see Hathaway possessing those traits.

I wouldn't even mind Karen Gillan in the role.

Either way, I'm not interested in them casting someone just to look pretty, as they did with Megan Fox, but I also don't want them to hire someone purely to be funny either, which is another concern I have for a future movie. I also don't want them to go too young with the role. Someone in their early to mid 30s would do just fine.

CyberCubed 12-30-2017 03:43 PM

Casey Jones shall be played by Jake Gyenndyall and April shall be played by Elizabeth Olsen!

Chris Evans as Casey jones and Sarah Michelle Gellar as April were not only good in the 07 movie but would've been great in a live action movie as well. Gellar is too old and Evans too famous now though.

I believe Peter Laird wanted to see both of them in his version of a live action TMNT movie.

If she was younger, I'd say Amy Adams. Though she wasn't that great in the DCEU, I think that's more based on the script than anything. She's much better in other roles like Arrival. I wouldn't mind Olivia Munn as April, if they wouldn't mind casting someone who's in her late 30s now. She could at least pull off a Mirage styled April if they could bush her hair a bit....maybe? Anne Hathaway would be a great choice since she has the chops to pull off a really good April.

For Casey, if he wasn't pushing his 40s, I would've loved Ryan Reynolds.

I'm pretty sure any good actors and actresses in their 30s can still play April and Casey.

Tetsu Deinonychus 01-27-2018 10:36 AM

Louie Anderson as Casey, and Cloris Leachman as April.

Also, the Turtles are all sock puppets.

Nothing wrong with her age-- fantastic choice. I think a 40-something April would be an interesting choice. Same with Maya Rudolph mentioned earlier. Local TV journalists in NYC doesn't exactly make a ton. She supplements her income by working at TCRI .

I agree. I have always liked the idea of Amy Adams in this part. I'd even consider Bryce Dallas Howard, as well. Personally, I'm not interested in an April or Casey who's younger than their early 30s.

Regardless of age, I don't want another glamour model, another actress cast to just look pretty in slow motion. That sorta casting is outdated and needs to be buried forever. It's a movie, not a swimsuit cover. I want someone who feels real and definitively owns the role in strong, intelligent, natural way. That's what the part needs.

So far, Judith Hoag has been my favorite on screen April. She was beautiful in a natural way with a down to earth personality. I could see her having a beer at the end of the day. Not in a "woo! party" sort of way, but a sit on a coach and chill after work way.

Weapons@theready 01-29-2018 10:36 AM

I like Anne Hathaway but for Casey, give me Milo Ventimiglia...it might just be because I am on a This Is Us kick, but even though he is 40, I think he could pull it off
