Doctor Who

Doctor Who returns after a long absense to the ULK on March 26th, the U.S Sci-Fi Channel will pick up the series for the American audiences.

The first episode "Rose", deals with the ninth Doctor (Chrstopher Eccleston) encountering his new companion, Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) and an invasion by the Autons (aliens that can inhabit any form of plastic, controlled by the Nestine Consciousness)

Future episodes will also see the long awaited return of the Daleks in at least three episodes ("The Creature Inside", and the season finale "The Parting of the Ways Parts One and Two")

EDIT: Someone move this, it's in the wrong forum

...Something tells me if I had used the words "Tom Baker" in here, everybody would have flocked to this thread already

I might watch this just to see Billie Piper. I'm no Who fan, I've never seen any of it, but I sure do love Billie Piper! Does anybody here remember any of her songs?

The series is the longest running science fiction series of all time, it began in 1963, and was cancelled in 1989, (with a breif revival in the form of a T.V Movie in 1996 starring Paul Mcgann)

The series centers on the adventures of a time lord from the Planet Gallifrey known only as "The Doctor", who travels time and space in his TARDIS, which resembles an old london police box (but it's much bigger on the inside than the outside) with various companions, he seeks to bring justice to whatever evil he stumbles across.

The Dcotor has changed many times, a great aspect about the series is that if an actor is leaving, all they do is "regenerate him", to continue the character's adventures, there have now been nine doctors, with the ninth version being the star of the new series, so unlike most revivals, THIS is in CONTINUNITY.

The Doctor's enemies have ranged from the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Sontarans, and the evil renegade Time Lord The Master

His name was Davros, who firest appeared in "Geneesis of the Daleks", some Doctor Who fans say he pretty much reduced The Daleks to second stringers, as he appeared in EVERY Dalek story afterwards as the primary enemy to defeat, fortunatly, he's not in this new series, having been killed in the novel "War of the Daleks"

Apparently, the U.S Sci-Fi Channel has refused to pick up the new series because it's "too british"

Also...THE FIRST EPISODE HAS BEEN LEAKED ON THE 'NET

I've watched it, and as a long time Doctor Who fan, it is EXACTLY the same as it was when it was axed, low budget, cheap effects...everything, which is great, I'm truly proud that Russel T. Davis decided to stick it to those spoiled by tougher revamps like Battlestar Galactica and kept the show to it's roots.

Sure, I don't want to give you the leaked premiere episode though...it's only a rough copy of it, and it'd be better if people got to see the finished product, but from what I've seen....it's the same classic series it's always been.

ZariusTwo 03-26-2005 01:03 PM

Doxtor Who is back, tonight saw the premiere of the first new season in many years, the full version of "Rose" was far better to hte leaked version, and was extremly faifthul to the series.

Just seen the episode and I've got to say how bloody fantastic it was. True Doctor Who style! Christopher Eccleston has done a wonderful job with his portrayal of The Doctor, I was so impressed by the whole thing. Absolutely brilliant!
