Spoiler:
I... don't think so. I haven't seen "Split" but I don't think there is any direct connections to "Unbreakable" in the film, nor does the article imply there are. Just that it's in the same universe.

saintsaucey 01-24-2017 12:24 PM

Which I didn't know at all.

Andrew NDB 01-24-2017 12:34 PM

Doesn't appear to be any more noteworthy than, say, "Soldier" being in the "Blade Runner" universe.

Spoiler:
* edit: Oh. Well it does sound like there's a pretty telling cameo at the end of "Split."

Utrommaniac 01-24-2017 01:28 PM

It's Shaymalan, his plot twists are given away in the middle of the movies. No surprise that a midquel would be revealed this way.

Andrew NDB 01-24-2017 01:30 PM

He sorely needs a hit, though. You think he'd be more up front about it being something to do with Unbreakable.

The Visit made nearly 100 million on a budget of 5 so if that's not a success, I dont know what is.

Also GG on spoiling the movie, lol.

AT-Man 01-25-2017 03:15 PM

If this is a spoiler, then f*ck you, Andrew.

Hey, I had no idea that was like, The Big Twist™ in it. Again, haven't seen the movie (though now knowing this, I intend to), just saw that article and figured Shymalyan announced it as an "oh, by the way" thing.

THGhost 01-26-2017 04:51 PM

Sure, why not? I like Unbreakable. Haven't seen Split yet.

Andrew NDB 02-04-2017 04:58 AM

Watched "Split." Awesome. Very awesome.

NinjaPug 05-18-2017 08:21 PM

Just watched Split. Unfortunately I knew something about the ending involved Willis/Unbreakable (my fault for waiting so long to see it). It didn't matter though. I got so damn excited as soon as I heard James Newton Howard's score and saw the raincoat hanging up. I watched the final scene on repeat for about 10 minutes immediately after.

I've been waiting so long for an Unbreakable sequel. Bring on Glass.

NinjaPug 11-08-2017 06:34 PM

Oh man I am ridiculously excited for this movie after seeing these set pictures of Mr Glass.

I love that he's the titular character this time. I suspect this is going to be very good.

ProphetofGanja 11-09-2017 10:11 AM

lmao everyone was so upset about the alleged spoilers in this thread

CyberCubed 11-09-2017 11:31 AM

So we're getting a sequel 18 years later to a movie that came out back in the year 2000. Seems legit.

Technically speaking... we're getting a sequel to a movie that will have come out two years before it, both of which set in the same universe as a movie that came out in 2000.

AquaParade 11-09-2017 01:41 PM

It took me years of loving this movie and Doom Patrol, to realize how much this movie takes from Doom Patrol.

Bruce Willis is essentially Cliff/Robotman and Mr. Glass pulls the same stunt that Niles Caulder did at the end of Morrison's Doom Patrol.

Hell Bruce even looks like Robotman. It's definitely more than coincidence. Especially when you bring in Split's main character and his similarities to Doom Patrol's Crazy Jane.
