Were April O'Neil's and Irma's apartments inside the same building?

In the original series, were April O'Neil's and Irma's apartments inside the same building? Or just similair-looking buildings?

I always assumed they were. I thought Irma made a reference to their common landlord in "The Cat Woman from Channel Six."

Come to think of it, did any episode show us the inside of Irma's apartment? Let's hope she's a real person and not just some robot shell. :tlol:

Maybe April just kept Irma in the closet?

oldmanwinters 04-03-2018 02:24 PM

Here's a look at the concept drawing for April's apartment and building that was published in a Japanese exclusive encyclopedia in the mid-1990s. Sadly, no reference to Irma's apartment, from what I can tell:

I like to think they could have been roommates.

(Which they would be in my take, since they wouldn't be coworkers)

CyberCubed 04-03-2018 02:52 PM

I don't think they lived together, we see April in her apartment several times and Irma isn't there.

Yes, like "Four Musketurtles" and "Donatello's Degree". I've always known they lived in different apartments, I'm but not sure if it was iside the same building o not.

Coola Yagami 04-03-2018 03:25 PM

Wasn't there an episode where Bebop and Rocksteady busted into Irma's apartment and kidnapped her? Like they were after April and got into Irma's place instead and decided to roll with it. I'm pretty sure it was implied they lived in the same apartment complex.

AlZarkovski 04-03-2018 03:51 PM

Yes, Irma and April are neighbors. After April's apartment was destroyed in the episode "A Thing About Rats", Irma obviously offered her an apartment next to her. In the episode "The Catwoman from Channel Six" we see how Irma emerges from the next door. Irma's apartment can be seen in the episode "The Turtle Terminator." She and Irma live on the 2nd floor at West Side, 13th Street, house 1/10 (in reality such an address does not exist).

I mean wow this encyclopaedia should be available worldwide, not just Japan. Reprint cause this book must’ve cost a fortune now.

Also why we never have any art book for tmnt? Korra, Steven universe etc got it. Fine, the Nick one is rumoured to be coming but 2k3, 2k7, OT? I have the Visual History but it’s too short I want more focused specific series.

Nah, it typically sells for around $40, when you can find it online. It's the Kodansha Encyclopedia #91 and 100% TMNT themed. Unfortunately, it isn't completely dedicated to concept art, but mixes in a little bit a everything popular about the franchise in the mid-1990s:

Oh thanks that's real helpful info. :)

I’m sure they lived in the same complex. I wouldn’t be surprised if they ever were roommates since I’m sure rent in NYC wasn’t exactly cheap in the 80s.

There's no doubt they lived in different apartments. For example, Irma's apartment didn't have a lot of cat paintings on the walls.

Or a picture toaster for some reason

Haha, that was from the building that got demolished by the Mousers. I'm assuming nobody else was at home, since only the TMNT, April, and Splinter were seen making it safely outside.

I always wondered about if those cat paintings were chosen specifically for the apartment since April was going to mutate into a catwoman in the 2nd season, or if it was just a coincidence.
