Rise Official Episode Discussion S1 EP14b - Bullhop

Bullhop
Things go sour when the Turtles try to help a down-and-out mutant.

Big Mama returns

So to recap, stuff happened again. Aka Ohhh! And it almost had point. So close! Maybe next time.

The bull guy actually succeeding (rather than losing 95% of the web junk) and sticking around as an occasional ally would have been a plus. But good to see Big Mama show up again. Even if their dance scene, of all things, something of not too much importance, was kind of weirdly slow for a show that's otherwise almost always set on rushed hyper speed mode.

I'd kinda hoped the bull guy would be cool, but he turned out kind of annoying and wasted if he's just...gonna go be a dancer (in Canada?) and possibly never show up again. :tconfuse:

It's like the crew just doesn't know what to do with the show itself, it's either getting repeative plots already or just randomness thrown together.

I think it's about time you guys accept that you don't get this show, & that it's okay, because it isn't made for you.

Oh I like this show, this version of Leo is really growing on me, I'm continuing to watch him involve into the leader the cast said would eventually happen. It's these odd ball plots I don't care for. I also wish they wouldn't pair an old episode with a new one, that's just annoying. At this point we won't be finishing season one till 2020.

I really enjoyed this episode and this art style really works for me.
I also laughed quite a few times and after watching the episode I want the figure coming out of Bullhop.
But I have to say did I miss an episode? Because I don't remember the boys hunting for the oozquitoes.
EDIT: I almost forgot to mention the Nick Lord Dregg nod in the episode lol

Episode 7 - Bug Busters. Without watching that one, you’ll be lost watching this one.

Wait is that the one when they first meet Big Mama? I seriously don't remember their interaction with the bellhop if that's the episode.

Bug Busters is where that guy mutated into Bullhop.

IndigoErth 03-02-2019 06:58 PM

Yeah, he was the somewhat high strung little guy (human) in the hotel lobby, afraid the Turtles were going to break things, etc., before he was suddenly mutated there.

Season 1 will finish way sooner than that we are more than 20 episodes already!

I felt some pity for the poor sap who turned into Bullhop, so I'm glad to see him getting some attention and redemption so soon.

Was his human persona inspired by Jerry Lewis?

I'd say it was and it's crazy but I saw the bug busters episode but don't remember that beginning at all

I was actually far too distracted by Raphael's Bug Busters outfit's similarity to Krulos of Dino-Riders to think about the Bellhop at first.

Poweranimals 03-09-2019 12:50 PM

So the Turtles really did invite Bullhop down to celebrate him without expecting something in return? Where was Splinter during all this? You'd think he would've been the one to kick Bullhop out.

Leofan26 03-09-2019 03:46 PM

So, I got to rewatch it again and it wasn't as bad as I thought, did get a few laughs out of me and I liked how Leo was characterized here, he was the only turtle that felt true emotions for the guy and was apparently the only turtle who didn't annoy Donnie that episode LOL. The turtles seem to really be against Donnie a lot in this series, not that his ego doesn't help but cheep shot MikeyXD

IndigoErth 05-17-2019 09:16 AM

Okay, Nick needs to just make up their minds...

Color error? Or IS Raph wearing shorts after all?

https://i.imgur.com/OiCKXry.jpg

I thought the "shorts" speculation for any of them was thrown out and figured it was just red bands around his legs (for whatever reason) that we always see ahead of the "shadow," but now I'm not so sure. Normally there is black shadow like the rest of the Turtles, but not in this case. :tconfuse:

But then a short time later in the same ep (and please forgive the awkward butt shot image lol), we still have the typical black shadow, even on Raph, but at an angle where shadow shouldn't be.

Why does their dimly lit kitchen make upper thigh/butt shadow disappear, but not Big Mama's presumably better lit party? :tconfuse: :tlol:

https://i.imgur.com/L4t8rQe.jpg

And yet the opening theme has a blatant crotch shot of Mikey and his plated, plastron-colored nether regions all up in the screen with a bit of shadow only on thighs, out in the darkened streets at night when there should be shadow.

So which is it, Nick... Are we going with
a) shadows
b) shorts
c) or Turtle nether regions are a mystical black void in which no light can escape...sometimes?

And yes, I'm speculating too much for the fun of it and it's all Raph's fault after noticing his red "shorts" on a repeat this morning. :trazz::tlol:

Sabacooza 05-17-2019 12:03 PM

Looks like Raph is wearing black underwear over his shorts in the last shot. That's odd but no more odd than Superman and Batman wearing underwear on the outside.

Candy Kappa 05-17-2019 12:32 PM

They have same jetblack shadows under their arms as well, and the chin shadow is the same way. So to I've never seen the crotch shadow as shorts, but it is funny seeing fan artist interpreted it as shorts.
