HBO Max & Cartoon Network Tiny Toons Looniversity
HBO Max and Cartoon Network have given a two-season order to a new “Tiny Toons” series from Warner Bros. Animation and Amblin Television, the companies announced Wednesday.
The new series, “Tiny Toons Looniversity,” centers on Babs, Buster Bunny and the rest of the gang as they follow their comedic ambitions all the way to Acme Looniversity, the esteemed institution of higher hijinx learning, where young dreamers become professional toons. Steven Spielberg, who executive produced the original “Tiny Toon Adventures,” will return to executive produce alongside Warner Bros. Animation president Sam Register and Amblin Television’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank. Erin Gibson of the “Throwing Shade” podcast is showrunner and co-EP. “Tiny Toon Adventures” ran for three seasons between 1990 and 1992, with two specials following in 1994 and 1995. The series featured classic Looney Tunes characters including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Porky Pig as teachers at the central Acme Looniversity and mentors to the new generation of characters. “Tiny Toons Looniversity will capture all the clever, subversive and smart humor that made Tiny Toon Adventures such a standout series,” said Tom Ascheim, president, Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics. “Fans old and new will love to laugh at and with these characters all over again.” “For many kids, Tiny Toons was their introduction to the world of Looney Tunes and, over time, Buster, Babs, Plucky and all the characters grew to be just as beloved by an entirely new generation,” said Register. “The continuation of our great creative partnership with Amblin Television will bring these characters back for fans of all ages to enjoy.” Added Frank and Falvey, “These smart, hilarious and cheeky characters have left an indelible impression on the childhoods of so many. We’re thrilled to be able to continue our relationship with Warner Bros. Animation, HBO Max, and Cartoon Network to reimagine the Tiny Toons for new audiences, and we know that fans of the original series will be just as excited to share the show with their children as they will be to revisit a childhood favorite.” https://www.thewrap.com/tiny-toons-r...rtoon-network/ |
I can’t wait for it to come back. I was very lucky enough to meet Tress MacNeille and she signed an autograph picture of Babs Bunny for my old babysitter who was an even bigger fan of it. I also got to meet Maurice LaMarche (Dizzy Devil) and Rob Paulsen (Arnold, FowlMouth) the same weekend.
I think that Charlie Adler is a fantastic voice actor, but I really do wish that he had not been such a sore loser on not getting a role in Animananics. Because of that he quit towards the end of the Tiny Toons. His replacement for Buster Bunny was the same actor who voices the Crypt Keeper and he sounded exactly the same. https://deadline.com/2020/10/tiny-to...ns-1234604528/ |
so is this going to be on both Cartoon Network and Hbo Max?
|
First Animaniacs, now Tiny Toons! This is beyond exciting!
|
Wake me up when Freakazoid comes back
|
Since Pepe hasn’t been like his old self I wonder what they will do with Fifi

I'm guessing the decision to bring back Animaniacs and Tiny Toons is spurred on by the fact that many of the Looney Tunes characters will enter the public domain next decade? Porky Pig in partcular will enter the public domain in 2031.

Doubt it, it's not like they've been able to successfully revive Looney Tunes in decades and it'll only be the original versions that enter public domain. This is more of a response to Animaniacs I feel.

So are we getting the original voices(that are still alive)?
|
I hope that is good like the original.
I would love to see Freekazoid comeback as well. |
Can we get a thread merge up in heah?
|
Can't wait for this!

Oh wowza. Now you'll get more Tiny Toons And Animaniacs crossover jokes lol. I remember before they would do stuff like with Pinky and the Brain and Freekazoid but very rarely Tiny Toons cause their show was already over and done with.
I only remember seeing Buster and Babs make a cameo during a Noah's Arc ep before the Warners would drive poor Noah batty. |

But yeah, seems weird to have Tiny Toons come back and not include her. |
