I'm curious how and when the show will introduce Mayhem the Magic Cat.

Dem mutants.

Shark_Blade 07-19-2018 05:28 PM

Why do the villains look so ugly? On the other hand, Batman’s rogue gallery looks amazing.

They're just fodder mutants, the only important character there is Baron Draxum.

It's like asking why Snakeweed or Spiderbitez look ugly, they're just mutants of the week.

The HD Trailer, followed by an uncut 2 minute sneak peek!

Hopefully this sneak peek isn't just the beginning of the first episode. I'm curious about how the Turtles met April in this series.

TheJ-manTurtleMan 07-19-2018 07:35 PM

Oh know, I think the majority of us on here think that the different weapons, change of leadership, and even the title of "Rise" implied that these Turtles are "newer" and less experienced, and eventually they will come into the roles we are familiar with. However, now after that new trailer, I wonder if it's the opposite? Yes, they are younger, but with them ditching their well known weapons, perhaps we can infer that the first few episodes are all about change? Perhaps Leo openly gives up the role of leader and we see Raph "Rising up" to become the leader. Just interesting thoughts.

I hope they still use their regular weapons often.

And man, Leo really is as un-leader as possible at least right now. I wonder how much he'll grow or change.

Hopefully by a lot.

I have to admit that the animation looks better than when it was first revealed. It really works best during the action scenes. Still wish it was a little more fluid, though.

I'm getting that vibe as well. Some of the speculation seems to have been untrue.

The new trailer looked great, Leo's line about training cracked me up a bit. The sneak though, conflicted.

So, there going to be trouble makers first?

We didn't just pull a rabbit out of a hat here, it was hinted in tons of interviews with the creators that they'd return to the turtles we know and love and hinted at Shredder being in it at some point.

Yeah but they also said they would be getting their classic weapons later in the show. Yet it's the flip opposite in the trailer and comic. Who knows at this point.

I think that they'll have the Turtles gradually become less reliant on their magic weapons and become actually skilled warriors and that's how they'll bring back the classic weapons later on.

Hopefully I guess. Though I'm content with any direction they go.

Why does everything in animation have to be compared to Batman? :tlol:

CyberCubed 07-19-2018 09:14 PM

Maybe they're not allowed to use the special weapons and Splinter forbids them, so they can only sneak them out when he's not around

Yep.

"Sooo... you guys from Jersey?"

Okay, random enough it got a light laugh. (Maybe being a fellow neighbor of Jersey is also a factor.)

"What training? You guys have been training?"

How can he not know?? So basically I'm now picturing that Splinter sends him out to run errands every time he secretly trains the other three, leaving Leo entirely out of it on purpose... Won't he be pissed if he ever finds out about other universes.

Who even gives weapons in the first place to people who would just throw them down like that... >.> 15 going on 5.

So this is gonna be on Mondays? Odd choice. Wonder if afternoon, right after work/school, or evening. Really kind of expected maybe a Saturday mid/late morning thing; and preferably not early Sundays again.

That's my guess.

Anyway, trailer/clip look dope. Loving it.

CyberCubed 07-19-2018 09:26 PM

I love the way they move in animation, Raph also doesn't look "as big" when he's basically moving around normally, so he doesn't look as out of place as he did in some older shots.

As long as they give Leo a character arc in Season 1 where they show him maturing and starting to assume the role of the leader, and they balance out the Turtles roles and Splinter starts training them later, I'm fine with this direction for now. I can see Season 1 mostly being the start and then in the late season or Season 2 gearing up for the usual first meetings with Shredder, or other classic characters showing up, etc.
