Commissions by Pedro Lajud (pl212)

Hey all!

As some of you might know, my buddy Pedro (pl212 on here) and I have been putting out some fan-made TMNT comics. His style and talent has always blown me away personally, so I urged him to consider to start taking commissions, if there was any interest. He's a full time worker, and as many of you artists on here know, it's hard to scrape up money for art supplies. If he can score some extra dough through his passion it would really help him out with future original idea endeavors.

Some time after we talked about it, Pedro got back to me and let me know that he was drawing and inking the 4 Turtles as "start up" pieces to get this off the ground. He can do whatever Turtle you want, any pose, just give him the details and he'll whip it up!

For immediate sale are:

Raphael

Leonardo

Mikey (Bust, Colored)
http://i40.tinypic.com/29by076.jpg

Mikey & Donnie full body currently being inked!

These are/will all be done on 9 x12 bristol paper.

With time needed to draw/ink, etc. and supplies factored in, we thought that these prices would be fair, shipping included (prices have been lowered $5, but Pedro really can't afford to lower them any more if he's looking to actually make a profit - shipping alone is $5):

Full Body Portrait - $20

Full Body Portrait (Colored) - $25

Bust - $10

Bust (Colored) - $15

If anybody is interested, please PM either myself or Pedro (pl212). You can also e-mail him directly at: exorosis@hotmail.com.

If you need more samples of Pedro's work, click the "Dark Energy" banner in my signature.

Thanks for reading!

I was up for it until I saw the prices. I don't like the beaks, but I do love his artwork. Amazing stuff. I'd be interested in commissions from him, it's just a little too high to start with in my opinion.

Good luck with the commissions, though. I'm sure that you will have plenty of takers.

I'll talk to him about wiggle room! :)

I'll keep an eye out for thread updates then...

Donnie 04-14-2012 11:36 AM

Updated w/ finished Leonardo, and lowered prices.

Donnie 04-15-2012 10:55 PM

Updated with Mikey bust!

pl212 04-18-2012 08:54 PM

So anyone in here interested? :D
We can work something out, just send me a PM.

DonatelloFan 04-18-2012 09:15 PM

I don't who's PMing you, if anyone, but I know I'm the only one replying to this thread. I'm interested, but not in the prices. I know it takes a lot of time and effort to draw the Turtles. But if I can be brutally honest, you're a nobody. Just like I am, and Powder is, and PlasticPlayhouse is, etc, etc.

Those two names just came to me first. They're both AMAZING artists, but they're nobody's (or is it nobodies?). Artists have to take a hit early on, then when they become famous, they can charge a lot for commissions and such. And I hope you become famous, because you do have great artwork. Maybe it'll catch on one day.

And hell, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe one day, you'll be charging $100 for a commission, and then I'll kick myself for not spending the money now, but for now, it's too much (for me at least).

Good luck though with your commissions. I hope you post whatever ones you do on here.

I really appreciate you considering me an amazing artist (thanks a lot! :)), but quality is what dictates prices, not always noteriety. Though I'm just like you, in the sense that I don't want to pay for work that wasn't penned by someone notable that I've followed, I also know where Pedro is coming from. I may be a nobody (though I have worked alongside TMNT big wigs on the image finisher & I've colored some pieces for Mirage artists) but I've taken a lot of commissions. My main source of income is my art, in fact, & my prices are pretty close to those seen here, some even higher. It's part time, as pieces like these certainly require a gentle hand and plenty patience, but it also covers material costs. Much like a tattoo artist, you can't do quality work without quality tools. Prismacolor pens and the like, used by most professional comic artists, do not by any means come cheap. And believe me, they're worth having. You can immediately tell the difference between work done with your average pilot or bic or a prismacolor/high tier ink brush. & I dunno about Pedro but I use thick canvas over traditional paper typically to do physical commissions on, bristol board & such, and these things also can set you back a little bit. So while you may not be keen on the prices, which is of course fair, they're justifiable knowing what goes into creating them.

Truthfully, I might even be inclined to say he (Pedro) is "taking a hit" in some regard with is prices. He could do better in a different venue IMO.

That being said, don't hesitate to commission him (or me for that matter :trazz:) if funds permit, as everyone gets better (& pricier) with time.

pl212 04-19-2012 09:37 AM

Thank you Powder!! Couldnt have said it better myself :)
I use bristol board and also use prismacolor pens AND ontop of all that the shipping is included in the price itself.... so basically if someone commissions me for a b&w bust which costs $10 all im getting for myself is $5 cause the other $5 is for the shipping.

Well, I'll tell you what, since I've been doing all the talking, I'll take a shot at it. If you can do two characters on one drawing, for a discount (since you wouldn't be using two pieces of bristol paper, etc), I'll take one from you. Let me know if it sounds like something you could do, and I'll let you know what I would want.

Of course I can do that :)
Send me a PM with what you have in mind and we'll work something out.
